Listening to Radio 2 (coz I'm an old fart and don't fucking care) and old Johnathan Ross just played "When Doves Cry" by Prince... and it just reminded me of a pissed up argument I had in the pub last night... I was so annoyed that Michael Jackson into the UK Music Hall of Fame... back in the 80s when I was growing up you were either a Jackson person or a Prince person.... and I was a Prince person... I thought he was (and still is) a better musician... I thought his music was more experimental... he took risks (and sometimes failed spectacularly) and I think he was more concerned with creating music of the best quality rather than selling as much product as possible... So where do you stand?... Prince or Michael Jackson?... Fly...
prince....just for what you just said, prince may not have had as many hits, but he was definately more concentrated on creation, and expansion of a genre...
I was a MAJOR Prince fan in the 90's, I think I saw him live about 5 times in one year. He was such a fantastic performer and an incredibly talented musician. Not all of his music has been to my taste and I stopped listening to anything new after the 'symbol' album. Michael Jackson is ok as a pop star, I wouldn't call him particularly talented and I haven't seen him live so I don't know what he's like as a performer. The two guys are completely different, I never really knew why they were always compared so much. Prince certainly has a much better arse! :X
ouuwwww!! Has to be Michael Jackson for me!! I got into his music from about the age of 5.. and I still listen to it now.. I think it went a little tits up after Bad.. But I still collect his albums etc.. Like a fan would.. Off the wall and Thriller are his best work.. and Destiny and VIctory by the Jacksons are the best group wise I love it all.. JAckson 5, Jacksons and solo Jackson!! I like some Prince too.. But nothing can beat Jacko!! :H
i used to like MJ when i was little but then i kinda grew out of his music. then i discobered Prince, i cant say i've ever been a fan of his, but i can see that he's far a better musician, i mean MJ is more attractive performance wise, but he lacks musicianship, he's all dancin' and heehee ow! i go for prince though i dont really care about either.
