Do any of you people like Primus? I think they're the shit. I just bought their newest cd/dvd and it's pretty crazy. It's got all their video's and some live footage. For all you Primus fans out there, get it. ANIMALS SHOULD NOT ACT LIKE PEOPLE I don't know how the hell these guys think up their stuff... it's pretty amazing. I'd say they're in the same category for genius as Pink Floyd. Maybe even a bit more creative though. Definatly more interesting though. What d'you guys think?
I love Primus and tend to regard Les Claypool as a god. One of the few unique and original bands playing nowadays.
I was just listening to 'Shake Hands With Beef' and 'My Name Is Mud' today. Before today I haven't listened to them in a while.
Yea, Primus sucks! Primus sucks! Primus sucks! I love 'em, they're the shit live. Compared to Pink Floyd, hmmm, weird comparison, almost like apples and oranges. But since you asked, I think Primus are better musicians, but Roger Waters is the bigger musical genius. If you're talking about post-RW Floyd, then Primus wins on musical genius too.
Primus is bitchin. I love that song "Bob" There has never been another song written anywhere by anyone that puts the picture in my head that it does. The music just engrains an image in my head of Bob swinging by his neck from his doorway in this little apartment. Genius. Pure Genius. I also heard that Flying frog brigade that Les Claypool did. Very very strange, I think it was called purple onion or something, but it was pretty damn cool.
They were the first concert I ever saw, way back in 95', with Helmet as well. They are still one of my favorite bands today. If you like them, check out Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, the new project by Les, Brain, Buckethead and Bernie Woorell.
Their lyric's are shit? No they're not. I kinda felt like that too cause it's hard to understand them, but when I finally read them, I was actually surprised how much meaning some of them had.
While Primus is more edgy than I usually like, they are still one of my favorite bands of all time. Oysterhead with Les Claypol, Trey Anastasio (from Phish), and Stewart Copeland (The Police), is also out of control crazy. If you appreciate the talent of Claypol, but looking for something even more psychedelic, check out Oysterhead! Here are some pics of Claypol from their 2001 tour:
LOVE primus LOVE oysterhead.......I've been looking for my oysterhead cd for months and can't find it
les is an awesome bassist. but you're all forgetting about tim alexander, a fucking amazing drummer, and Larry LaLonde, one of the most originol guitarists around. primus is an awesome band, i also own animals should not act like people and eventulyl once i get some cash im gonna go buy the halcino-genetics tour on DVD.
Tim Alexander was the first drummer. Brain was the one that played on everything after Pork Soda. Sailing the Sea's of Cheese is the last album I really enjoyed by Primus. After that point they got too overproduced and lost that vibe their earlier stuff had, imo. But they're still great live!
