so what are some relative prices for tattoos? i don't really know, from like small tats to medium, to big. what factors in a tattoos price?
When i went with my uncle to get a black valknot on his wrist it cost about 60$ but since the same guy has done his back and the start of a sleeve he got it for 40-50 can't remeber which.
mine is small, but has lots of color so i payed $90 for mine. I think when you have more color addded, it's going to reflect in the price!
what about something roughly the size of a coin wrapper (10$ coin wrap) which would be colored i think i'm getting 60-90 out of these replies hmmm not that bad
I would say roughly $80 and up. It all depends on how many colors are used and how good the person is that is doing the work. Some tattoo artist charge more because they have been in mag's or they just know they are good - so naturally they charge more (Which I think is worth it) Don't try to go for the cheepest one cause you may find out that it was cheep cause the tattoo quaility sucks! You will have this on your body forever so make sure you pick someone you trust to do the work and that it is priced fairly! Good luck!
But Its true you get what you pay for!!! unless your a friend of the tattooist, I have a tattoo on my ankle that is about the size of a deck of cards and it cost me $200, Its a very very detailed faerie. So you really can get a rough estimate but also bank on it going up 100 bucks (or more) depending on the tattooist and what the tattoo really entails, the best way Is ask your friends and random people where they got theirs and then decide on a place and bring them what you want and ASK how much its gonna cost
1. the artist's rep, cuz he can get what the 'market' will give if he's good - ask to see his portfolio, they all have one IF they are serious about their art. 2. time. most artists have a per hour rate, even if it's not so much a posted rate but they know about how long it will take. more colors = more time. more detail = more time. bigger = more time. cover ups = more time. of course, if ya know the guy sometimes you can get a better deal. and sometimes they'll work for trade, we had a guy (our friend's nephew) give us a firebird for a full back piece from my hubby the tattoo ended up being way more than the car was worth, but my hubby was so into making a show piece, he worked on the kid whenever he could, 30/35 hours or so. aaahhh - bad end to the story though, the kid let somebody else do about 10 hours on it and now it looks like total crap! like somebody colored it with sharpies, when it was all greywash... NOW that kid's gonna have to cough some bucks to fix that shit.
well, i also have a friends who knows a lot of tattoo artists so maybe i get can him to get me a discount ...maybe but 100 bucks roughly isn't really that bad i think
yeah, 100 bucks is a decent amount, you should be able to get something nice for that - you wanted to get that chess piece, right? that should cover the cost. tips are always appreciated too! my hubby almost always gets an extra $20 at least - he does nice work. just make sure you look at portfolios - and if you can talk to any previous clients that will give you some idea of how heavy handed (or not) the artist is. healed tattoos that end up raised, are usually a sign of an artist digging in too far. hurts more to get it and sometimes scabs up pretty bad, which pulls the ink out.

mine was 140... It just all depends like other said, where you go, how detailed it is, the tattoo artist and so forth... They tried to tell me at first to pay like over 200 haha i laughed and said yeah right..its not huge and not too detailed so we worked out a price and he was pretty nice about but i just found it hilarious with how much they were going to charge me, even he laughed about it..
