Now, it is no secret that I don't like President Obama. And there are many people here that didn't like President Bush. I didn't really like Bush, but I voted for him. I gotta agree with PR (If you have been round, you know who that is.) that pretty much all politicians are bad. I want to know what you guys didn't like about president Bush. Obama has only been in office for a couple of months, is he better than Bush, or worse, AND WHY? Too many people on the forums only post opinions, then don't back them up. References and links are good.
Well, wars were up there, his lack of constitutional knowledge, and social conservatism combined with a tax less spend more policy
Bush , put the wrong people in the wrong positions. He didn't take advice. He didn't fess up on his past drug usage and above all... the cockbite didn't legalize weed
I really enjoyed George Bush in : Escape from Guantanmo Bay hitting the weed, comiserating with the boys over their mistreatment in Gitmo. seemed almost real. too real. It brought the movie up to another level!
OK, war sucks. And the war against terrorism is basically futile because the we've been fighting against the asshole camel jockeys for ages and it hasn't gotten any better, nor will it ever get any better. But The plans for the 9/11 attacks were drawn up during the Clinton years, and Bush has prevented any future attacks on American soil. Those wars were keeping you and me safe, no? Lack of Constitutional Knowledge; I haven't yet seen evidence of Obama showing ignorance of the constitution, but he definitely is taking this country down a different path than what was intended by our forefathers. So in a way, that is a lack of Constitutional Knowledge. Tax less; good! Spend more; bad Obama spend much more than Bush. More spending bad. Obama more bad than Bush.
Obama has made the worst decisions in terms of putting people in the wrong positions. Bush didn't take advice? When? Evidence? Not fessing up on drug usage, not cool, but, neither did Clinton, and why do we care about PAST drug usage? And I wish someone would legalize weed, but this cockbite we got in the whitehouse now won't legalize weed, either.
You know, there have been like 30 books written on what a disaster Bush was as president. You haven't read any of them?
Bush had total disregards for the constitution, not agreeing with someone's economic and social beliefs is one thing, a total disregard for the rights we're guaranteed is another And wtf, Obama spending more then Bush? Yea probably down the line in 8 years that'll happen but he's yet to do it. I don't agree with more taxing and spending, but if Obama does that at least it makes more sound monetary sense. Plus Mr. Bush's probably most famous quote on this subject back from 2005 and something not as famous: http://harpers.org/archive/2009/03/hbc-90004488 I'm sorry Mr. Bush, the constitution is not just a god damn piece of paper, the constitution is sacred, hence why it takes so much to amend.
OK, let's look at this statement piece by piece. "He started . . ." Yeah, he started this war just like FDR started WWII "unjustified" 3000 dead on American soil killed by militants funded by an extremist government that probably killed 10,000 civilians for petty crimes. OK, OK, there is the WMD debate, which I will concede Saddam didn't have any. But he was still a crazy asshole dictator and the country is better off without him. "killed 10,000 children" Where did you read this, I would like to see a reference to this. Yes, I feel bad about the dead civilians, which is an inevitability, but the rest of them are better off living in a free society where they can go to school, run businesses, etc and not worry about crazy jackass Saddam oppressing their freedoms, aren't they? What about the thousands of kurds that Saddam killed? I feel bad that some died, but in order to make Iraq safer for the rest of the citizens and make the world safer for the rest of us, I guess it's worth it. Better 8 year old Abdul in Basra, than 8 year old Anthony in Pittsburgh.
Hmmm, the constitution is just a goddamned piece of paper, eh MadcapSyd? I don't think I like that statement, but I can't deny that it was uttered based on the reference you gave and the bit of research I did. Not cool. Not cool at all. Pressed Rat always says that all politicians are the same, just trying to grab power. He calls them puppets, Obama is no different than Bush. I will agree that they both grab for power, but the difference is in the methodology. And to me, Obama is more scary than Bush. Bush's policies never hurt me, Obama's policies will hurt us all. Another big difference is that Bush wasn't smooth. Obama is smooth. Obama can make you like him, and make you think he is on your side, make you think that he is fighting for your well being, while he is fucking you in the ass.
Hey, Fawkes! i was wondering the same thing, myself, not too long ago ~ what in the heck did Buch do that was SO unconstitutional??? i found this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2433743 but it looked to me like a bunch of the gripes were just stretches...
bush didnt do anymore than anyother world leader would do in this political atmosphere. and the constitution is always in a state of fluidity since it is the base of all arguements
References to the number of children killed as a result of Bush's huge mistake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Iraq_War
The one sacred oath any President takes is to uphold the Constitution of the U. S. This Bush did not do.
You mean the constitution that O-Bozo is having rewritten, so that he won't be blamed for the same thing?
This is a problem I’ve often noted about US politics and have written about here before. Many Americans see Presidents and reflect from President to President without seeing the wider political landscape. To me Bush was little more than a figurehead the power in the Bush Admin was the neo-con faction of the US right wing. And that faction was just one branch of a right wing movement that had its roots in the 1960’s and has grown in power since the 1980’s (sometimes called ‘movement conservatism’ or the ‘new right’). It is an alliance of business and corporate interests, conservative and fundamentalist Christian groups and wealth backed right wing think tanks. It is often characterised by what it opposes rather than what it stands for – for example it is supposed to dislike ‘big government’ but both the Reagan and Bush Administrations saw increases in government spending, it is firmly against Keynesian economics but has turned to it time and again when its ‘free market’ ideology has failed. And while it claimed to support ‘free market’ ideas its financial policies have not ‘freed up the system and have instead just entrenched the power of the rich and corporate interests. (try reading A brief history of neoliberalism, The shock doctrine, The conscience of a liberal) The neo-conservative faction although adhering to the movement’s other right wing ideas was characterised by its support for a more assertive foreign policy as a means of securing or promoting what they saw as US interests as can be seen in the documents produced by the Project for the new American century. This lead them to fantasise about establishing a middle eastern power base from which they could influence the region and help secure it and it mineral resources in the interests of the US. That led to the fuck up in Iraq because it was a fantasy, * Anyway most of the problems that the US is facing today are can be laid at the feet of this right wing movement.
