I had sex for the first time with my boyfriend about a month ago, like 1 day after my period ended. I'm on birth control (alesse 28) and I know he's clean so we decided not to use a condom. I am moving in with this guy in February...anyway, I have been paranoid ever since that I'm pregnant, even though I've been taking birth control properly and at the same time everyday for 4-5 months now. I was originally prescribed it to regulate my period and get rid of my cramps, I wasn't sexually active at that time, so I said no when the doctor asked. I got my period 1 day ago and usually it lasts 4-5 days. Today is the second day and it seems lighter than it usually is. My period came exactly on time and everything, but I'm just wondering if you can still get your period if you're pregnant and then it can get lighter and go away sooner? Maybe I'm just dreaming things up or stressing so much that I'm causing it, but I don't know. Should I not worry or go to the doctor and get a pregnancy test to see?

I don't need people to tell me I'm stupid for not using a condom, we were using protection. All forms of protection can fail, thanks.

unless your noticing other signs aswell, i wouldnt worry about it. tender or enlarged breasts? morning nausia? pregnancy tests reading positive? <--- :p that ones usually a pretty good indicator

besides any of those i wouldnt worry about it, chances are minimal if your using bc pills correctly and even more so if you've gotten your period.

exactly, it's very unlikely. But the first time I had sex I had a similar 'what if' stress so I know how you feel....I don't think you need to worry, but it's probably a good idea to get a test anyway, just to put your mind at ease :)

I haven't had any other symptoms besides sore breasts, but I'm 18 so that could be from growing, ovulating, and my period. I think I'm just being too paranoid :p

I knew a woman who had normal seeming periods for 4 months of her pregnancy.

A drugstore pregnancy test would let you know for sure.

BTW, congradulations on losing your virginity.

Does anyone know if you can take a home pregnancy test on your period? I'd kinda like to find out for sure so I can stop worrying.

the hormone that tells the tests whether or not your pregnant would be present in your urine whether or not your on your period. check the box before you use it but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

I think it's just your worries that have you thinking about your period being lighter. It may be, but being pregnant is a very slim chance.
