Pot Etiquette

ok, I got this idea from a post by BungalowBrad in the "does it matter how you pack your bowl" thread.

Imagine we could give a class on how to behave when it comes to weed, high school, college whatever...

What rules do you adhere to at all times?

Packing, sharing, buying, smoking, bongs, joints, pipes, buckets... All aspects of pot and the smoking of such...

How should people behave and why?

Sort of a POT101, so people can get an introduction to the culture and not embarass themselves by doing the wrong thing (taking too long to pass, passing the wrong way, packing things wrong etc)

What do you think should be here?

 

never packa bowlin front of a pothead then refuse to share
never asktoborrow a bowl then take it to smoke withyour freinds & not include the bowlowner
always pass tothe left in peace right in war
i'm always in peace even if the worlds in war soi always pass left
never ever ever scrape someone elses pipe for resin hits
always make sure boithlighter &bowlget backtothe owner
never sit the bowl down tocontinue a conversation &forget your holding it
passing.. taking a momment or 2 to appreciate the bowl is ojk..waiting a few seconds (to a minute maybe?) to finnish what your doings fine but just holding its not good.. neither is trying to suckdown more then your share before passing..if udidnt get a good hit a seconds ok.. but the third toke is greed
not everyone does this but iconcifder it proper ediquet.. give thanks.. raise the bowl in a gesture of thanks before you pass it
a true pipe cerimonialpractice would alsobe to turn the bowlin a full revolution as you pass, sothe steam points to everyone in the circle before reaching the next hand

packing only thing id saythere is, packer canchoose whogets 1st hit..&..if it comes tou & is cashed..packit again if u can

in circles where ya got 4 bowls commin at ya at once ya can suspend all the rules

oh 1 more thing, if the bowls realhot,inform someone b4 uhand it..&..if your sickor anything wipe the stem clean b4 upass

many people alsoget upset if u ike wipe the inside of theyre bowl clean when your done..its theyre pipe,its uptothemif they want that done

the etiquette is not that big deal... pass it to the left and don't be greedy, that's about all you need to know to get started. observe what people do and act accordingly.

 

just share, dont slobber on things, puff puff pass, and relax. the rest is all part of the journey!

once your so stoned your distracted from smokin by tralalalalalalala or anyother random mind static instead of spacin withthe joint, just skip a hit or 2 & pass it on by

one simple rule, dont be a dickhead. the rest comes down to personality traits, for kindness and sharing and so on...

 

i agree 100% with soaring eagle's long ass post, exept the peace/war passing left/right.
Here is the two ways I have seen shit be passed:

First, the person who packs it gets greens or assigns greens (nice to do if u are at someones house: give them greens)
Next, the person who hit it first choses either left or right (never really mattered with people i know) based on who is next to them. Something that often happens is if you dont have weed you hit the shit towards the end of the rotation if theres 4 or more people.
the better someone knows a person, the more likely it is they will pass to that person next. Quite often it is just random depending on where people sit after the first two people smoke.

Anyone agree with that

 

everytime i'm in a group, say with my friends and maybe a guy i don't know so well
a guy that thinks he "knows the rules" so he sits down to my left, he's all antsy and what not, basically fiendin' in front of me

instead all this little rules we need 5 or so main rules.

 

why bother type rules on an internet forums. do you think that every person who smokes is registered here?

just do what ever the hell you want be it pass the joint to the left or give them a kick in the face

I don't really have any rules. Just take your fair share and pass it, it's very casual; maybe because my circles are always really small and between close friends.
