Nice memories----my first encounter with the fabled in song and legend--windowpane, was while In-a-gadda-da vida was playing. I was 28.

A comment on In A Gadda Da Vida.
I remember when a buddy of mine came back from his tour in Viet Nam with a story about the song.
We all know the song was supposed to be In the Garden of Eden, but Doug Ingle was so drunk when he told the drummer Ron Bushy the lyrics he wrote down In A Gadda Da Vida.

Anyway according to the Marines the song was about getting thrown out of the Garden of Eden and then returning.
We would sit a listen to the song over and over and my buddy would point out all the important events symbolized by the music such as the descent into Hell, the devil speaking to the interned, being chased around by the devil, nails being pulled from a coffin, the rise back into the light, etc. Wish I could remember the whole story......he had it all figured out.

I first heard of Iron Butterfly when I bought their first album:

FAB story - of which there are many told when listening to Prog.
Growing up within an environment of Students, Hippies, Gypsies and Peers of like-minded desire to expand the mind with creative ideology. Many late nites/early mornings spent within this ambience of freedom. expression and company which drew me to this Genre - and of which I have embraced since then,
