I think SNES had the most quality volume of games of any system. The nature of games changed, so it's kind of difficult to really compare and contrast but I remember there being many more quality 3rd party developed games for SNES compared to N64, which seemed to get diluted in competition with Playstation and whatever Sega was doing before and up to Dreamcast.
I'm glad I only gamed sporadically as a kid. Besides that atari I feel I started getting into video/computer games on the win95 and the win98 pc I was 10 in 1992 so seems about right. Got that N64 around age 15 i guess.
Yes but Duke Nukem 3D was already out by the time I discovered it and naturally I preferred the Titties and Cussing.
Yes, i played a bit of Doom. Me and some friends were really fan of a similar FPS called Blood though. Anyone else here get nostalgic about Blood?? Fuds?
You played Carmageddon?? Dude you left me hangin when i brought it up in another thread. Ahh that is a fine trinity of games. One might say... The better of the Trinities...
yea, don't know how i forgot to list zelda.it's one of those games i played over and over and even draw to this day p.s. one of the drawings there isn't of Link
you missed out on a lot bro, sorry to say. this game would give your gameboy games free starter pokemon and even legendaries for completing certain levels.
I couldn't find the exact US release date but given the relative release internationally, I think I may have moved onto Dreamcast at that point, maybe add playing Baseball all summer as a buffer.
Went over my head probably! When i think of early game experiences to name Carmageddon is always one of them. I also recall how awesome we thought 2 was: wow you could actually ride into buildings and break glass windows :-D Blood 2 as well: that train level in the beginning! How impressed we were with the graphic improvements lol The 4th would be Age of empires. Btw: i got all those games on cd roms that circulated among friends or classmates. The first pc game I actually paid for was Outlaws (how suprising: a western game )
A little late responding to this but fuck it... Outlaws was pretty great. I never had it but my cousin did... it was really the first game I had played that gave you a sense of being in a Wild West gunfight. And the taunts you’d hear in the background, “Don’t be a fool, Marshall!” “I’ve seen better shooting at the county fair!” They were funny and seemed to add something. At the time the graphics seemed pretty top notch as well. I wonder if it paved the way for RDR or not.
"Where aaare you marshall!?" "You got manure for brains!" "You're outnumbered!" heard those taunts so much lol. I played the shit out of that game. It also has a pretty good soundtrack. I think it was pretty obvious at the time already that a western setting is just perfect for FPS. There have been several more western themed action games between Outlaws and Red dead, I happened to get my hands on most of them btw: Outlaws was made by the same developers as the Jedi Knight series at LucasArts. Apparently several of these folks who made Jedi Knight: Dark forces and Mysteries of the Sith loved the (spaghetti) western setting so much they thought lets just make one! which is understandable as a big part of classic Star wars involves bounty hunters in space
