so im a senior and just got accepted to VCU. my grades have always been decent, never failed a class. but this year im not doing so well in Trig. at my school its a semester course so its worth half a credit and the final is on thursday. next semester we go on to another math course. last quarter i got an F and this quarter im probably going to also get an F. im gonna be studying my ass off everyday untill thursday and hope i do good on the final but the way its looking, im probably going to fail the course.

It isnt that i havnt been slacking, ive got maybe 1 or 2 missing homeworks for the quarter. i just forget all the stuff when i get home, get all the homework wrong so that gets an F and then fail teh quiz the next day. Ive been staying after for extra help but it just isnt clicking.

I was wondering how likely it is to have my acceptance revoked if i fail the course. Would it help if i immediatly took an online course and passed it? or maybe becuase my chosen major is philosophy with a minor in history, it wont look so bad since trig isnt very important in those fields?

    awesome.

i think your issue is less "getting into college" as it is "graduating high school" right now.

Considering your major you might be OK. Usually humanities majors have to take SOME math but not a lot. Often you take a placement test your first week or two and they place you in an appropriate course. So you may end up in remedial or something but no biggie. HOWEVER... do your damnest do at least PASS. If you stay for extra help and try hard, most teachers will at least take pity, but you will have to work your ass off and show that you really want to learn. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

p.s.- you can always appeal a revoked admissioned especially if it is just one measely course.

well i took the final in trig today and am pretty sure i failed it. but i did talk to a teacher of mine and she told me that there is almost zero chance of them revoking the acceptance because of a .5 credit non-mandatory course. ill still graduate, just with a standard diploma instead of advanced. so i feel a bit better about it.

if i do get any letter from VCU saying im not goin though than ill post here heh

be careful man. I got into western carolina university for this spring semester, drove up there for orientation and they pulled me saying that they just received my final transcript, and it was .04 too low. I was told I could not stay and once my gpa was back above the required I could come back. I did have a bad semester in the fall so my gpa fell from about a 2.8 to a 1.96 but what I'm saying is make sure before you make the move.
