has anyone ever been camping there? For my birthday this summer some of my friends and I are planning on going camping... and Ive been looking for places to camp... ive been to the porcupine mountains before day hiking but have never camped there... I love it there its so beautiful... I was just wondering if anyone had ever camped there and what good camp sites there are... thanks much -Kaytee.
I wish I could offer a cool place, the closest I've camped to the Porkies was at Lake Gogebic (beautiful in it's own right). We made a day trip to Lake Superior one day and spent some time in the area, though I don' tknow where exactly (it was a good 7 or 8 years ago). Very beautiful up there, I think you've made the right choice!
OOH thats cool... My family goes up to Lake Gogebic almost ever year... although my parents have grown out of there camping days so we stay in a cabin. Isnt it beautiful up their? I think up around there is my happy place! anyway thanks!
Hell yeah it is. I remember we had a campsite right next to the lake, and I woke up early one morning, before the sun. Walked over to the shore to watch the sun rise over the lake (how fortunate! getting a site on the lake, AND having the view face East!). It was beautiful, I still sometimes go and look at the pictures I took, to take me back to that moment. It was so quiet and peaceful...
