Racist slur or household term for kids hanging out on the porch? What is the thought process or factual findings behind your answer?
I always thought it was racial until Clerks 2. I don't understand how it could all of the sudden be racial just because somebody decided that. Doesn't make sense to me.
Atleast there's options for both those who do and don't want to see me naked. Could've all resulted in yes. haha I just decided to roll two studies into one poll. Saves time and effort. Plus bandwidth. haha
Clerks 2 is such an awesome movie! I have the dvd Porch monkey is a racial slur.origin wise anyway...that just what it is. Though its kinda like =lazy, and I am sure some people use it not realizing the racial root.
i didnt think it was racist, i thought it was just people who hung out on their porches a lot. what ev.
though i refuse to accept the concept of "calling a spade a spade" is a racial slur, since it's from an ancient greek play referring to gardening equipment. just because some assholes called black people spades is not the fault of a greek playright with a talent for plain speaking.
I'd never heard that, but I dont think its a racial slur. I hang out on my porches alot. if the weather is nice, and there's no mosquitos, Im outside.

Where I grew up in the 80s everybody started building decks in their backyards and no one sat on their porch. But yeah, in some communities where people still sit on the front porch it could be construed as racial. Hotwater
yeah, it gives explanations of slurs and lists them. probably LOADS of words there blocked by your webblocker. here's the porch monkey explanation: Low-income housing with no air conditioning led to many blacks in the projects sitting on the porch to stay cool. It was said that they looked like monkeys at the zoo. The adults were called "porch monkeys," and the children were "yard apes." though i really like the porch honkey. i'm gonna start calling me and dave that. honkey just isn't thrown around enough.
Sure am. It's rare that I'm on here and not at work, really. Makes people question why they pay me sometimes. This isn't one of those times.
