Just wondering if those slaughterhouse/dairy videos were what motivated you to go vegan. Or helped motivate.

I've never seen the videos, but I would like to, I wanna know exactly what happens there. Where did you see them and where can I find them?

Someone gave me a CD that has the "Meet your meat" video (I think PETA sponsored). I know I still have it somewhere, so I'll try to post it somewhere for you to download. But if you're already a vegan, you might want to spare yourself the nightmares. :(

Ok, thanks. If you find them let me know, I prefer to know exactly what's going on.

I admire your dedication to truth. Ok, I feel really creepy about posting this link, because I didn't mean to ruin anyone's day... but you can download the video from here:

Oh my God! That was horrible... But I had to see it, if it's happening there is no point in shutting my eyes.
Actually, I'm not a vegan, I'm a vegetarian. But at least here in Uruguay cows are breeded in an extensive way, what we call "cría extensiva de ganado", that means that cows have a lot of land to move around. And about the eggs, my uncle breeds some chickens, and I know he treats them well, so I eat those eggs.
But anyway, thanks for showing me the video, it reinforces my decision of being a vegetarian.

hmmm yeah i guess those videos did sordove play a part in my decision to become vegan, certainly did when i became vegetarian... http://www.milksucks.com is what got me thinking about really going vegan, which has some pictures... its good to face up to reality, and look it in the eye no matter how fucked up it is.
theres a TON of animal videos at http://www.petatv.com, including meet your meat....

I've visited some "tambos" (I don't know the translation, is where cows are breeded for the milk) here in Uruguay, and cows were treated OK, because of the "cría extensiva" which leaves them lots of land to move around (as I said in the previous post).
The sad thing about our country is that people don't care much about animal rights, in fact, I only know one other person who is a vegetarian. People just don't care about animals being killed.

I'm glad to hear that. If dairy animals were treated well in the USA, I'd probably still be eating cheese omelettes. Maybe that's why people in your country don't think too much about animal rights... because things are not horrible enough to notice. It's a trade off. The USA has many animal-protection groups & laws, but that's because we're probably the worst offenders. [IMG] Is the "cría extensiva" a new law? I've never heard of it.

i think we all need to all put our personal health and well-being into consideration as well, i keep coming across these vegans who are just out to avoid animal products but then they go buy the french fries from burger king noiw that they found out they dont always do them in animal fat or something, i dont really undestand that? you dislike the animal products so much you boycott them, but when it comes to burger king, well ya gotta have french fries, especially if their from one of the probably most evil corporations around....its good you like to reduce suffering, but why not play the whole role y'know and inform yourself about all food? or dont make the argument to meat eaters well its bad for the planet too you know when your not necesarily good for this planet either, lol.....
and i dont think milk from a four-stomached cow was MEANT for human consumption, and i dont see how anyone could really debate that and win it.

The "cría extensiva" is not a law, it is just the way animals are bred. Since we were a Spanish colony we have bred our cattle like that, we have little population in proportion to our land, so this enables us to breed cattle like that.
Anyway, I think it is great that so many USA groups and organizations are doing what they can to stop animal suffering, I wish uruguayan people cared more...

You wish Uraguayan people cared more, I wish American people cared more. =P Most people are just clueless about it, or don't even care at all to begin with. Ah well. =\

Only seen one or two videos, but I was vegan before that, and don't want to see any more. =P

seeing photos on the web of pig factory farms, seeing real life cage sizes used in factory farms, seeing photos of a pig farm - that someone i know took - all these got me to go vegan.
Actually seeing the photos of a local pig farm, that someone i know took- this really cemented it for me, it was horrible so sad and miserable and cruel, and it was local- about an hour away i knew the person who took that pictures i knew it was real.the pictures were so f'ing sad..that really made me want to go vegan.
Watching Peta and other AR groups videos also helped me go vegan, and seeing whole lamb bodies on the news many years ago started it all off for me and made me go vegetarian.

I saw the videos after I decided to stop eating meat and most other animal products... I read around to find out what it is that you are actually eating along with the animals, and that was enough for me.

look into how the workers are treated in the slaughter houses. Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlossinger goes into some detail about how workers are treated as disposable.
I 'd read excerpts before publication, but reading teh chapters with story after story...wow.
    So add
I care than workers in slaughter houses are treated with dignity and respect and since the Big Four Ag companies can't do that, I will not give the system any money.

I wonder if, after looking at livestock as so much potential profit, if management gets the same jaundiced eye toward the workers?

Animal suffering in general motivated me to go vegan...
However being that I'm lactose intolerant, have acid reflux, and have a hard time digesting certains foods [such as meat] that motivated me quite a bit as well. :p

well I'm not vegan (yet) and I've only been vegetarian for a month but those videos are the reason I changed my eating habits. They made me aware of what is going on and it's been a domino affect ever since. I am eager to learn everything I can about animal rights and being veg*n.
