What would be wrong with knocking on the door and asking if you saw anything suspicious, if you saw the suspect, if anyone came in your house, etc. That's intrusive enough but almost understandable for the situation.

I can't stand the form of sarcasm you employ on every single post.

That is not what she was advocating, at all. But you know that, you just refuse to accept any ideas outside of your socialist dogma.

No, then if someone was harboring a bad guy, they would get away. Think!

As for the photos, it would be depend on why.

If I or others were in danger, I would imagine I would feel better having that presence around.

If I were the cause of them being there I would feel totally differently.

That still does not give them the right to violate the civil liberties of entire communities. You won't ever get to me to agree with that.

I sort of agree with you.

To be realistic, you'd get your ass kicked if you told a SWAT team that....

And they may have the right to search without a warrant for your property specifically, if they're looking for somebody else. They're not necessarially accusing you of harboring them, they're not after your pot, or guns, or anything else, they're after a guy who could hurt you too.

I can see both sides of it, I suppose....

I think that I would not consider it a violation, so long as no charges could be filed for anything except harboring the guy.

There's no Christ, or Anti Christ. But yes, these are terrifying times. But I wouldn't count on anonymous; sure, they're genius hackers and programmers, but they're also naive teenagers who end up getting caught or are more interested in screaming at scientologists; a worthy endevour but more for recreation.

Everybody has seen this scenario in movies and on TV:

The criminal puts his gun to the wife's head, and says to the husband, "Go to the door, and say whatever you have to say to get rid of them."

When a criminal is being pursued and running around a big neighborhood, nobody has time to contact a judge and get a search warrant for each and every piece of property in the area, which could be hundreds of documents. There has always been a legal exemption for such situations. Otherwise, a criminal could take one step over a property line and say to the police, "You can't touch me now! You don't have a search warrant for this yard! Go fuck yourself!"

I think most things in America are over-done - including criticism.

This is a part of the increasing polarization I was talking about the other day.

Americans used to unify during a crisis, at least temporarily. Not any more. The opposition party now always says the President is wrong about everything.

It's fine to not all think the same (unify) - but there seems to be one end of the spectrum far too evident.

If a swat team was looking for a terrorist or bomber and they came to your door and you said=="no,you can't come in without a warrant",I shudder to think what their next move would be!

Seriously, could they not have let the gray-haired grandma put her hands down in order to use the handrail coming down the steps?

    This is terror.

Perhaps a little off the topic but I noticed that one of the things american gun lovers always say they need a gun to protect themselves from abuse by government.

So where was the gentleman that stood his ground and said go away when these warrentless searches going on.

Or was that the down the street a little bit?
