does it seem that there are more happening lately, or is the news just reporting them more? it feels if there have lately been an inoordinate number of planes falling from the sky because someone made a damn stupid descision of mistake... is there a social anamoly that could cause this?
Well, if you notice... school shootings, terrorist attacks, plane crashes, gov't fuckups/kickbacks/leaks, usually seem to come in waves, ironically. Makes you wonder, sometimes.
Man we have plane crashbes daily someone needs to take out all those terrorists. Personally I say we surprise nuke them but that's just me. Have a good day LOL
I'm gonna be flying for the first time ever in 12 days (8 hour flight from Manchester to Toronto). All these crashes are NOT helping my nerves!!
it's weird, my mom and I were having this exact conversation like 2 days ago, about how it seems there are more planes crashing... eerie.
Planes have always crashed. We are hearing about EVERY SINGLE ONE of them now because of 9/11. So it just seems like more because people are so paranoid that terrorists have hijacked every plane that crashes.
god planes freak me out so much. if i was a musician i dont think i would be able to handle an international tour, all that flying...*shivers*
I love flying, all of the recent crashes hi-jackings dont scare me. It just seems they are more frequent due to the news and such. You're more at risk of dying driving to the store then flying in a plane.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe all of these recent incidents apart from the Canadian fire (without fatalities) were companies from poor countries, with older planes? Many years ago I read a book about flying written by a pilot, and one of the things he advised was to fly with a company that was doing well financially, as opposed to one that was having a hard time... companies that are doing well have newer planes, better maintenance, can afford to pay better wages so they'll often have more experienced people working for them (pilots but ground crew as well), etc... all these things ad up. Even within the US, where all companies have to follow all kinds of safety regulations, the poor companies will just meet these basic regulations while the rich companies with the newer planes will have a greater safety margin.
True, the falling is what scares me. They say and I am not sure who "they" are but they say that if you are afraid of falling you are too much of control freak. That is me for sure. jules
Think its just the reporting... think about how many musicians and celebs that used to die in plane crashes.. Buddy Holly - Patsy Cline - John Denver - Otis Reading and god knows there were a few in the Kennedy family that went that way.. then again i never thought it was the most natural form of travel... i mean if your goin down thats it, game up...or down !
Celebrities are on a schedule, and they usually don't listen when a pilot says it's a bad idea to fly.....also the weight of the plane is very important...the pilot needs to know exactly what's onboard in order to fly safely. Jonh Denver was a drinker, and flying without a license when he crashed. JFK Jr. didn't have his night rating, which means he couldn't fly using only the instruments....he needed daylight to see where he was going. If you are smart about it, you'll be ok.....
