what gives me the shits big time is all the talk of how we the consumers of the earth need to recycle our garbage to save the earth .and its not so much to save it but to slow down pollution eg:i imagine the process of remelting plastics in it self gives of a lot of pollution.
SLOW down not stop pollution, what the hell !! so the next generations can deal with it? it is a fact that we could stop creating pollution .but there's no money to be made in it so it wont happen are just another animal that has lived on the earth like the dinosaurs and when we have stuffed the environment up enough that humanity can no longer survive something more deserving will flourish. the earth has always changed so what dose it matter ,some people seem to think because we are conscious beings we are not animals but i think it makes us wosre because of what we have done to this planet ,as the earth changes, mabe an earthquake rip's through one of the thousands of nuclear silow's around the world or a few of the nuclear subs lost on the ocean floor start leeking, mabe the genetic engeneering of bees ect: that has been going on since the 1980's will take us out befor any thing else gets us ,but sadly its like smoking it takes so long to kill people its not taken seriously enough. every race of people that came befor us has gone just a few stone sticking up out of a desert or jungle somwear .humanity needs to wake, live life the best you can without doing harm to other's,be true to your self .and try not to let the mental manipulations of the global powers and sub-secret organisation s fuck with your mind.learn your spiritul lesons learn about your self and your relationship with the universe. (not the crap from religon's that take your money and TELL you what god sed, thay read from books that have been altered by many diffent rulers and translators over the centurys ,each religon thinks thay are in the right ,yet there are so many difrent ones. well if you have had the pashionts to read all my rambleings im more than happy to read your thoughts on what iv sed good or bad . have a nice day.
try not to live in hope because we ofte hope for things we most likly will never have, wich leeds to dissapointments just live here and now in this moment .its good advice ,I have found this the hardest lesson to lern and i am not there by a long shot.bye for now.

the end for us anyway... at this rate, the earth will eventually cough us up like a nasty bit of phlegm.

...and I humbly disagree about generations before us not leaving an impact (if that's what you were saying, it was hard to read). What about Easter Island or the extinction of the Moa (for example)? I'd argue that humans have always been destructive and rather short-sited creatures.

It is impossible to live anything but the most primitive sort of life without producing ANY pollution in any medium at all. The natural processes of the earth can deal with a certain amount. The problem is that we're far outstripping the earth's capacity to handle it.

let's stop trying to figure out what is the problem and accept that we did it wrong, the end has come.

nah that's not what i ment, and yes i do have a chaotic righting style (dyslexic with A.D.D)
i was trying to say that it doesn't really matter what we do to the earth .because it will sort it self out in the end. once humanity has been gone for a 1000 or so years .

i guess there comes a point where you slow down pollution enough that the earth can absorb it
consider if you live in a sealed greenhouse... you are eating up the oxygen within, but the plants can replenish it
then you invite a friend over and the oxygen is being eaten up rather more quickly, but still enough for the plants to cope with
then one night you invite a load of friends over, have a party... but by morning you're all dead!

on the other hand... people talk about being more enviornmentally aware, saving the world, etc. but they're not really saving the world at all - they're talking about saving humanity (even if they dont realise it).... long after the earth has had it's revenge and made it impossible for us to survive here, the planet will be teeming with forests and all sorts of creatures - though it may take tens of thousands of years for our concrete scars on the planet to heal

kind of echoing what people here have already said... though i do believe as humans we can exist and produce negligable pollution that the earth can more than cope with - the only problem being that our numbers are now so vast i dont think even if we cut out pollution by 95% it would help
