Which of these two 1967 masterpieces do you prefer or like more? It is nearly impossible for me to decide but I'd say Piper wins by a hair. Also what are your favorite songs from each album. Piper: Astronomy Domine, The Gnome, Bike, Flaming. Pepper: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Fixing a hole, When I'm Sixty Four, A Day in the Life.
piper. by more than a hair. pepper is quite overrated. piper: astronomy domine, take up thy stethescope, flaming, interstellar overdrive pepper: lucy in the sky, within you without you, a day in the life
Piper at the Gates of Dawn..... Astronimy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Pow R Hoc T..... Hell,I dig the hole album ......
Am I The only one that picks Sgt. Pepper's? I love piper, but pepper holds a special place in my heart. Piper: I'm going to have to agree with you on astronomy domine Pepper: when i'm sixty four ooh! and within you without you
tough one this as i love both albums but i would say ( with some difficulty) pepper pips piper at the post
I'd say that Sgt. Pepper's is a more perfect album, but I prefer The Piper. Favorite Tracks: Piper - "Lucifer Sam," "Matilda Mother," "The Gnome," "Scarecrow," "Bike" Pepper - "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Fixing a Hole," "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!," "Within You Without You," "A Day in the Life"
Gotta be Piper for me. I just find Pepper to be a bit superficial and unemotive. Too much schmaltzy McCartney stuff on there. Fave tracks: Piper: Mathilda Mother, Scarecrow, Bike Pepper: Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite!
piper definitly! I was listening to it yesterday actually. it is actually one of my favorite albums, and definitly my favorite by pink floyd
just out of curiosity, where did you get your copy of it on vinyl? i imagine that would not be an easy find at your average record shop.
I love both albums, and though Pink Floyd is one of my favourite bands of all time, I prefer Sgt. Pepper's. Some claim it's overrated, and that may be, but when I listen to an album, I shut out anything I've ever heard about it. The praise an album receives doesn't change the music in any way.
what about SF Sorrow? came out from the same record company, same time, just as good as the other two....sort of links the two together musically..
Well, not to be an ass, but I believe that SF Sorrow was released in late '68, over a year after both Piper and Pepper, and the original poster referred to 1967 masterpieces. And although it's all about personal opinion, I don't think that SF Sorrow is quite up to par with Piper or Pepper (although I do really like SF Sorrow). All three albums are great, though, so we're really just pulling hairs here.
oh right, i thought i read somewhere it was the same time or within the same time because they actually used the beatles' sitar and stuff without them knowing. i definitely think they were recorded in an overlapping period. but yeah i'd agree that sf sorrow isnt as good as the other two but i thought it deserved a mention.
