... i met a disciple of him in gangotri, india, a nepali sadhu who told me his guru had the abiliy to stay underwater for days. he truly believed it, he was totally devoted to his guru. i even started to think, maybe i should have a look at their ashram..... i didnt, and today i know the truth about pilot babas miracle: a scam..... i feel cheated, and the more time passes, the more things i hear about other gurus. antother example: the breatharian Jasmuheen. I truly beleive she has something special, she has a gift, and she has been a true breatharian for a while. but not really any longer, and the sad fact is that she is trying to hide it! she pretends she doensnt eat, or almost not, and then facts come up: a journalist on the same flight as her, heard J confirm she wanted a vegetarian meal on the plane. when the journalist asked her about it, J totally denied it and try to hide that fact. then after a while, she changes her mind and says she did order the meal, and says "but i am not going to eat it" there are many other testimonies that compromises her validity as a breatharian
but we do have a rational mind, there IS a reason for that. WHY? to keep us awake when dream and illusion is trying to catch us.... i have found my spiritual home, i am not looking for it, i just say.... there is SO much money and lies and hypnosis that are attached to some gurus, unfortunately. AND it is our LESSON to learn to detect that, not to fall in to it. you cant just beleiving all the time. you need both. wake up
Discrimination is always necessary - there are no doubt, many fakes and charlatans out there. But that doesn't mean to say there aren't also genuine spiritual teachers and personalities. Mainly, they tend to avoid making a big external show of being 'miracle men' (or women). Often those who claim some occult power are simply trying to appeal to the gullible.
yes, i agree. and, sometimes we are being "tested", sometimes it is so easy just to follow so bid guru... it is harder to find the real spiritual teacher. but in new age, sometimes people want to avoid all things that are "negative", criticism is not so accepted, because some new age people want to hide reality and live in fake dream, a "positive" one, even if your guru is cheating you.
Right - well the thing is to ignore the idiocy which refuses to exercise any discrimination or critical thinking. If people want to fool themselves or let themselves be fooled there's not much we can do other then let them get on with it and see where it leads them. If you have a kind of true inner sincerity then I think that will protect you from false teachers, because something within won't be satisfied.
