pills = the new marijuana

all my hippie friends at school who quit smoking (mainly cuz thier parents made them) are now taking pills (percocets, zantex, midol...?) i think that its really fucked up, especially since what happened to TA, that pills are the new drug of choice in the dead head/hippie culture. your thoughts?

 

pills will never replace marijuana.

Percs are cool but wtf is zantex? Never heard of it. I've heard of xanax. Is that what you mean?

Also, why the fook is this in the GD & Phish forum? Shouldn't it be in the PHARMACEUTICALS forum? Wouldn't that make more sense? lol

 

WillyWonka's right, marijuana will always be around. It's the easiest drug for young people in all ways...not too expensive, easily obtainable, and not too strong. And that's the point- your friends might be doing pills now, but they would be smoking weed if they could get it past their parents. It's a lot of people's drug of choice, it's not going away any time soon.

 

Man what the hell are you talking about? This is one of the sketchiest posts yet. If your friends were smoking in the first place wouldn't they have been hiding it from their parents already? Wouldnt a normal person just try a little harder to not get caught the next time? And why would they want to switch to pills which are addictive and more dangerous? And if they took pills why would they want to take Midol which is for mentsrual cramping and Zantex. I assume you mean Zantrex which is one of the quick weight loss supplements that they offer on TV. Neither of those will get you high. I've tried them both. They will fuck you up but not get you high.

And just because Trey got arrested with pills you assume that the "dead/hippie" community is using pills more frequently. Rush Limaugh has a pill problem. Do a majority of conservatives pop pills? Your post was total nonsense.

Anyways I dont think its cool mentioning Trey in such an unusual, out of place, and extremly pointless post. Little more respect please. Either that or lay of the pills.

yeah i meant xanax idk how to spell lol. i was just telling you that i observed a lot more perscription drug usage within my friends because they didnt want pot to show up in piss tests and be sent to military school by thier parents. and btw there is no reason to totally tear me apart by saying this is a pointless post. i was expressing concern for the ppl in OUR community which is why i posted this here. at least im making threads and contributing to this forum which has been at a standstill since the trey getting popped thread.

 

i know what you mean. at my college pills are always around. you can find pills anytime and anywhere. and a lot of kids i know are on pills. it will never replace marijuana though.

 

I'm sorry that I got a little rough. Was just blowing off a little steam. plus youre original post confused me a little bit. Thankyou for clarifying. Back in highschool I also had to go through drug testing as well as many of my friends. My circle was pretty much the "head" community of our town. Instead of reverting to pills we just found ways to get around drug tests. It is pretty easy if you do your homework. No one around here that I know of has ever replaced marijuana with pills.

I really dont know much about the lives of musicians but I assume that this is an individual problem for Trey and that the use of pills is not that widespread in that community. Maybe Trey doesnt even have a problem. Maybe the pills were just in the car he was driving and they were there so one thing led to another.......and he got caught with his pants down.

But I will say this: songs that are influenced by marijuana, shrooms, doses, etc., are a whole lot better than ones influenced by pills, especially midol. so why would pills ever be more widely used?

 

While pills aren't the "new marijuana", they are definitely becoming more popular.

Its not that it is getting so much more popular than more out in the open. They are getting heavier and heavier though. There is a pill to do about anything and everything.

The only problem is..
The legalization of marijana will not happen soon because OF the pharmaceutical companies.

e.g. Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Roche etc.

 

I'm just tired of hearing about/being around pharmaceuticals (sp?). Loratab blah, xanax blah, adderal (sp?) etc etc the list is endless. It really is becoming more and more widespread. Like I said in my reply to the Trey got popped thread, the eipidemic is sweeping america. I kno a lot more people that eat pills than I do that smoke/drink/etc. I think it really does have something to do with getting caught. Even though these drugs for the most part have much mroe serious health effects than herb, it jsut doesnt look as bad getting caught with a few hydrocodone than a quarter of some nugs, or atleast its that way from society's viewpoint. I think kids see it somehow as less illegal, not as serious. Not to mention its easier to get away with. You can eat a pill just about anywhere, but you cant really just light up a reefer stick anywhere you want. Also, for some its esier to obtain pills than it is herb. Its easier to sneak over to the medicine cabinet than to find a bud dealer for some people. I think there are a lot of factors that contribute to why people are eating more and more pills. I will say that at the last show I went to a guy offered me a quarter of a xanax in exchange for letting him in on our rotation....

 

yeah i think pills are a lot easier for people to access. i know that i could get pills anytime i wanted, but marijuana is a little harder for me to get. and plus you can just look in a medicine cabinet and find an assortment of pills. you can't look into a medicine cabinet and find weed.. unless your parents smoked and decided to hide it up there lol
