PiHKAL & TiHKAL

i've always wanted to read part one of these books, which to my knowledge isn't online. so the other night i bought them both off ebay for a total of $40. i think that's a pretty sweet deal.

i also pre-ordered The Shulgin Index, coming out this summer. has anyone heard about this? are there even moar drugz?!

 

Both are great books! I think they are pretty cheap wherever you buy them. Actually I can see that amazon got a sale where you get "Pihkal", "Tihkal" and "DMT - The spirit molecule (which is also really good!) rather cheap.

I'm also really looking forward to "The Shulgin Index". I don't know about how many new compunds we are going to see.

I would be excited. The chapters about his experiences with the chemicals or whatever that first part may be would be fun to read. I'll get them eventually.

Those books are awesome, part one is an amazing read. I couldn't put 'em down! I wish I could find them in hardcover actually, my copy of Pihkal has broken in half!

it's too big to be bound by wussy paperback. too much knowledge busting out of it

ZOMG shulgin has a new book coming out? holy hell... I'm excited. He's getting old... and once he's gone we are all screwed lol. Good thing he's getting these 2 books out.

WTF no comments? how are we suppose to get an idea of wtf we want shulgin? lol this is bullshit, the majorijy of these probably won't be available to the masses and if they do they won't be on internet for at least 10 years though.

 

I'm in the middle of PiHKAL right now.. actually towards the end of part one.. had it for years but only recently picked it up (pothead)... you're gonna love it! And thanks for the heads up about the Shulgin Index, that's a new one to me but now I must have it.

 

WTF? I somehow convinced myself he was already dead. I don't know wtf I heard to make me think that, but I just had to check to make sure. Whew! Alright, today I'm celebrating the LIFE and works of Alexander Shulgin with 37mg 2c-e.

i do love it. i just finished the DOM chapter. now it's on to MDMA.

i love the fact that i will never have to look up the PiHKAL/TiHKAL entries online ever again. speaking of TiHKAL, where the fuck is it? hasn't been delivered yet, unless someone stole it. i'm sure it'll be here soon

i've never fully realized how many drugs were in PiHKAL. i guess i did, cuz i've seen the complete list at erowid, but the book has the list with full chemical names, so you can see what is similar to what. i found myself going through the list to see what is most similar to 2ce (the only RC i have experience with). i already knew DOET was the amphetamine homolog. i can't remember the others ones that were very similar to 2ce. MEM was pretty close - that's the subject of one of the early chapters, and Shulgin's discovery of it was a breakthrough for him - i think it helped him realize the importance of the 4 position, but again i'd have to re-read to be sure. so much information in this book!
DOPR, 2cp's homolog sounds nuts.

 

I finished PiHKAL a few days ago. I bogged down some in Alice's voice, then had the notion that she probably wasn't writing to me, but was writing more to women. I dug that a lot, because so many psychedelic books are at least to some extent male-oriented. The book is a treasure on several levels.

 

as soon as i get the cash [and remember while i still have it] i'm buying a copy of both.

i've read the online PDF's pretty thoroughly, but i'm interested in the love story part.
