I've been wanting to pierce my nose for some time because I really can't see me ever shelling out 50-60 bucks to get it professionally done. MY lil' cousin that's only 15 just pierced her own w/ ice/a piercing stud... Just wondering if anyone out there has done this themselves? What sort of problems could I run into?
All kinds. Your cousin sounds like a complete retard. As was I when I was fifteen. I don't know how mine healed right... I dipped a sewing needle in alcohol and shoved it through my face. I shudder to think back on it, because I could've gotten a gnarly ass keloid, or an infection, or pierced it crooked, or any host of bad shit. If yr too cheap to get it done right, then you probably shouldn't get piercings, and don't even bother thinking about tattoos.
well I'm cheap about everything... it can't be that hard to find the right spot to pierce it through, just do a lil' research... I'm not a fool, and as for tattoos I have a friend that does them professionally// I get them for next to nothing completely safe/sanitary
About the only location I can pierce without a problem in my nose.. I once did my nose on a bet with sharp staple.. correction I can do my own nipples too but havent in a long time.. But I wouldnt do it today ?(you shouldnt do it yourself either).. after working in ER for a long time Im prone to staph infections.. thankfully I havent had on of those for a few years.. A reason Im holding off on Eye brow peircings.. But I think the eye brow will be cleaner than the nose, but cant wear stuff on my face without written permission. Job hazard.
you dont want to use a piercing stud, thats not the worst idea.. ive seen worse lol i have 5 piercings all done by myself & with the help of my good friend, lip (1), both ears (2), both nipples(2).. You NEED to get a pro, surgery grade steel sterile piercing needle (if you want to do it right) - they are about 5$ for a package of 10.. (its a hollow, very sharp needle, and it removes the flesh allowing for a nice clean smooth hole for the jewelery) these piercing needles can be bought at most good tattoo/piercing shops for very cheap. Make sure you double sterilize everything, the needle, the flesh where u are gonna pierce, and your hands! A friend is good idea to have around to help provide a view on the position of the piercing, and also for moral support.. Then take a Deep Breath, put the needle to the Flesh, and Push Through firmly while Exhaling the deep breath at the same time. This is a great trick that does actually work for people who are a little freaked out by the idea at first (just a little nervousness). ive also pierced my girlfriends, and my good friends girlfriends bellybutton, with the same techniques after that you just have to follow standard procedure to Proper Care and keeping your piercing clean - this is the most important thing.. get some Saline spray, 70% isopropal alcohol and hydrogen peroxide and some Q-tips, that is all you will need.. and clean it a 1-3 times daily, or whenever you notice 'crust' on your piercings.. just lookup on the net, Care for piercings.. it has to be done right! otherwise it can come out misshaped, it can scar up and become crooked, it can get badly infected and have to removed.. ect.. so proper care is necessary..
How about going and doing that research first then? There is a large host of complications you can very easily run into. Generally decent advice.. few notes however. A piercing blade/needle will not remove any skin and create a small hole. The bevel on a needle creates a more U shaped cut and pushs the inner bit of skin. It never removes skin. Double sterilize everything? You cant sterilize your hands, or the area to be pierced. And if youre doing this at home, chances are you cant sterilize the equipment. You can sanitize and disinfect things but without an autoclave you cant sterilize shit. Dont even mention boiling water. 70% isopropal alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. What. Please dont recommend this again. These are very good at avoiding an infection yes. As they are very good at killing infectious bacteria. However they also do wonders at killing the good bacteria that is working to heal your body. Alcohols should be avoided at all costs as aftercare. The words alcohol or peroxide (BLEACH) should never be seen in anything regarding aftercare.
NEVER do I reccommend peircing yourself. If your local piercer is too expensive for you, call around. I know a place where you can get it done for 10 with a CBR and this is the cleanest most professional place I have ever seen, and they will be the only ones to ever pierce me again.
Don't do it. The tissue and cartilage in your nose is very sensitive, will get infected easily and will leave scar tissue that will make any future nose piercings complete buggars to heal up, in some cases they won't heal atall. Always get piercings done by a professional. Doing it youself will just end badly. Peace Akai-Chan
I pierced my own nose...it healed fine. I had already had the other side as well as several other piercings and pretty much knew what I was doing before gettingg into that though...would not do any other on myself other then that one though...
Did it myself twice in my teens, both time they got infected. Even though I sterilized and used the same after care the piercer suggested....got one of those weird growth things too, whatever they're called.
I think it's just a better idea to have it done professionally. My piercing only cost me thirty dollars, including the jewelry. I can't imagine being so cheap that I'd risk fucking up my face to avoid shelling a few bucks, but that's just me.
dude.. i would do it myself. but try to get ahold of a professional needle, they're pretty cheap if ordered online. i've pierced my nose, both sides of my lips, both my ears, and my upper lip myself. KNOW what you're doing, do your research, make sure you angle it and place it right. it's cheaper, and honestly.. if you know what you're doing.. go for it. I still have my nose ring in from when I was 16.
People like to expect the worse. Shit, I pierced my own labret and it healed great. In fact it healed batter than all the professional piercings I have. People can call bullshit all they want but it's the truth. You can do it yourself and end up with the best ga'damn nose piercing ever or you can end up with a bumpy infection. People think professional piercing = 0% chance of shit going wrong but that's bull. So whether you do it yourself or get it professionally done you will always have the possibility of getting the bumpy infection.
I used to pierce professionally and if you are going to attempt to do this yourself you should spend a little money and get the popper stuff. The right tools do not cost that much. 99% of infections are caused by the equipment not being clean. Equipment being needles, pins, piercing studs, jewelry, your hands etc... Bare minimum you will need a receiving tube a piercing needle and a nose screw or proper jewelry All sterilized too...do not trust pre-sterilized stuff. Just boiling it is not going to do it you need pressure sterilization. Placement is crucial too or you're just wasting your time and it won't heal, you'll get keloids, infections...blah, blah , blah You can buy the right equipment for around $17
Yeah...no. I went to a cheap professional place to get my navel pierced and the safe sanitary fucker did it crooked. So when it came to my nose i got a needle and sanitized it with heat-grabbed the peroxide and neosporin and pierced the fucker. No infection, no problems. And oddly enough when I got my navel done it DID get infected. Go for it yourself just be smart about it.
I'm not saying to go find the cheapest place possible. I'm just saying, that this place has such a reputation for good piercing and tattooing they they get enough business they don't have to charge $40 for a piece of jewelry that cost them a couple dollars. If you look enough, you might luck out and find a place like this. And every piercing is different. Did you get your belly button done with a CBR? Did you ever think that navels have a lot more sweat and get bumped a lot more than a nose ring. Its more likely that's your culprit, not an inexperience piercer. (And before that starts a whole new thread, I'm not saying that all piercers are perfect. I've had my fair share of piercers who didn't know what they were doing.)
