Here in the UK they are reducing the print run and the size of phone books. It will be printed for some time. Removing it from circulation has nothing to do with those that do not need it.

I was thinking something along those lines as well.

Since I have moved to GA, i dont think we have a phonebook at all at my new house. Maybe we opted out of that situation? Also my house's landline is on the do not call list, which means we have very little obnoxious calls from telemarketers.

I think you should still get a phone book even if your on the no call list and they are delivered for free with the intentions of everyone receiving them I don't think there is a opt out

Plus there is still a older generation that still uses phone books

I get them but never use them I look up business numbers online

business's pay up to 800-2000 a month depending up to size of ad in the yellow pages

and i agree a big waste of paper especially since most do not use the phone book

i do think one day phone books will be obsolete

this morning at a hotel i suggested to my wife that she use the phonebook. she looked at me like i was crazy.

she was trying to call her friend's mother, but didn't have her number. knew her last name though, so i thought it was a good idea.

therefore, i could see them being useful in a hotel room, but not at my own apt. if i did not have internet though, i would want a phonebook for sure.
