Set 1: My Friend My Friend, Sparkle, Simple, Runaway Jim, Foam, Lawn Boy, Split Open and Melt > Buffalo Bill* > Makisupa Policeman > Rift Set 2: Down With Disease > T.M.W.S.I.Y. > Avenu Malkenu > T.M.W.S.I.Y. > Sparks > Uncle Pen, You Enjoy Myself, Bike, Run Like an Antelope > Sleeping Monkey > Run Like an Antelope, E: Harry Hood Comment: * Last Buffalo Bill, 11/21/92. this show is amazing! if you haven't heard it yet go and get it....its on Nugs.net, and the second set is brilliant. its opens up with this crazy DWD intro....that just leads into an experimental and tight jam....its awesome....then it fades into TMWSTY>Avenu>TMWSTY....but the cream of the show is YEM!!!! oh my god! its unbelievable! after a perfect intro, Page just takes control and starts jamming this funky ass line on his Clavinet and its so powerful....he builds it up, takes it back....he really took his time and then built it up to explode into Trey's solo...and of course trey delivers a rocking solo that melts perfectly into Mikes solo, which is mind blowingly funky!!! god its good.....you have to hear it!
nugs has had a major overhall.....looks hella different until you click on FREE STASH and it goes to the oldschool website....
yep, when i saw it i flipped out cause i couldnt find the free stuff, but then i did. and there was much rejoicing.
shows like this are why i prefer PHISH over the DEAD.....i love both so much.....but PHISH gets so powerful and full of sound, that the DEAD never really had.....i like distortion some times.....i like crazy loops and effects......but don't get me wrong the soft stuff, with alot of air is really the most powerful stuff....but every once in a while i need a solo that will rip my face off!!! i need a bass effect thats so dirty and disgusting it makes me wanna cry...give me it all....and thats what PHISH has over the dead....more up to date range.....and thats all because of the generations i know, but just laying it out there....
That's so insightful, and I feel the same way. Phish has the ability to set a peaceful setting with emotional solos the dead always lacked live... And that's why I think the direct comparison between phish/dead isn't even sensible; they came from completely different worlds, so to speak. edit: If it doesn't make sense, it's just cause I'm blown right now..
