my mouth waters over a good philly steak. there is a place downtown called "pepperjax grill" and they make awesome and huge philly cheese steaks...

I know around the philadelphia area and jersey , they dont call them philly steaks..... why is that?? why in kansas do we call them philly steaks? I like mine loaded with mushrooms, peppers and onions.

    yeah, thats weird!

I had a philly cheese steak special which I ran on tuesday at work, and some bitch from nebraska saw the sandwich she got and automatically said she wasnt going to have it because it had cream cheese on it. we made it for her and she said she wanted something else, because she never heard of cream cheese on a philly sandwich. thats the way we do it in kansas! but more times than not, I see it with swiss...... never with cheddar or american

my bad, it was provalone. and cheeze whiz is also an option, but i've always thought cheez whiz is too sweet, so i've never tasted it on a cheese steak.

Provolone was always a nice change... I also like a ridiculously sharp cheddar for homemade ones... but my usual was american with onions and peppers with ketchup (and sometimes mayo too)

its good with cream cheese actually.... you put the sliced beef, peppers and onions on a hot flat top, then throw the cream cheese on the mixture and let it melt for a bit, but not all the way, and you incorporate the cheese into the beef and veggie mixture, and throw it on the hoagie. soo good.

I just make sure to get the best crusty bread availible..... and just fry the steak and onions and add that yellow cheese. Simple but delicious.

You really should try it the other way though. I used to eat mine with provalone and they're good but when I first made them with the yellow cheese all I could think was "oh wow"
