I would have to disagree. The Ring was probably one of the more scary movies I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of scary movies.

mmm i agree to an extent, a lot of them are pretty lame as you get older, but some of them are still pretty good movies.

Yeah, The Ring was an awesome movie (the first...the second one blew hard). But yeah, BlackTar_46, it's looking like you've just been picking some shit-tastic movies to watch (I've heard nothing good about any of the ones you listed). There are some PG-13 horror/thrillers I still enjoy, like Drag Me to Hell and 1408.

While most horror movies do require gratuitous sex and violence which elevates them to an R rating; there are PG classics out there like Jaws, Alien, The Thing (1951) Rosemary’s Baby, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) Psycho (1960) and many others that can still scare the dickens out of you :cheers2:

Although I admit most of my personal favorites have R ratings

    Halloween (the original)
    Night of the Living Dead
    The Exorcist
    The Evil Dead II
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)
    The Howling
    The Thing (1982_
    Silence of the Lambs
    Hell Raiser
    From Beyond (1986)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
    Friday the 13th
    Nightmare on Elm Street

i can think of one movie that would be rated pg by todays standards.
that movie is the 1932 version of frankenstein.
when that movie first was released to theaters back in 1932, there were several adults (18 years of age and older) who died during the film. a lot more fainted and, some devloped ptsd from the movie.
    remember, this was in 1932.
today this movie is quite tame. sure, little kids would be scared shitless by it. yet adults would not have major problems with it today.
in 1932 people were shocked far, far, far, more easely.
we are one hell of a lot more de-sensitized to horror movies today.

in 1932, frankenstein would have gotten a rating of r or nc-17 that we have today.
like i said before, today the 1932 verison of frankenstein is more like a pg rating.

Personally I think that you are equating massive gore and nudity with scary. Those movies you listed are lame, but not because they were PG13... they were just badly made.

You should watch more classic horror movies.

For the most part PG-13 movies are garbage! (Unfortunetly the P.C. crap started taking over in the 80s and ruined moves that would otherwise be good!!)

I love POLICE ACADEMY -- I ONLY LIKE PART 1 AS ITS RATED R -- Part 2 is PG-13 and rest are PG -- Quite sad..... Part 1 is amazing, they shouldnt have let anyone tell them to weaken thier movies!!! (Same with the movie VACATION -- PART 1 IS THE ONLY REALLY GOOD ONE (Being rated R))

There are some movies I like that ARE NOT horror movies though

    The Fugitive -- PG-13
US Marshals -- PG-13 (Not as good as the fugitive however)

There are a few others but frankly I cant think of what they are!
