It just shows what a flock of sheep the human race really is. Sadly, this mentality has led to more than one war.
@Okiefreak did you read that article? It's from the days of the controversy and not showing that guy to be a horrible racist. It just calls him one through some arguable assertions.
"Horrible racist" is harsh, but the article does suggest a pattern of racist tropes and dogwhistles that would make me suspicious. The conservative Wall Street Journal came to a similar assessment after identifying nine Pewdiepie videos with Anti-Semitic jokes or Nazi imagery since the summer of 2016. I'm surprised this is still a live issue. I haven't kept up with him since 2017, and can't comment whether or not he might have cleaned up his act or overcome the controversy. I tend to agree that some outlets on the left can be overly sensitive and reactive to this sort of thing.
Well he is a racist that has done some horrible/horrific things. You haven't heard? He's more controversial than ever. The New Zealand white-supremacist shooter mentioned the "subscribe to pewdipie" alt-right call in his manifesto.
That could be said of pretty much any Youtube star. They don't need a network to OK what they do. They can go to the people directly and get their own advertisers. Most people at the level he is get offers in their email all the time and it does not need to fit the standards of a ABC or NBC..
The media is not some kind of entity that hates. It's also not as uniform as you make it sound. Thanks for playing
And to add, no. Since the controversy he has continued using racist speech and has continued claiming that he is a victim with no intention of stopping being a racist. Since that article I posted, a lot could be added. Some might, for some reason, call it that. But most would likely call it "perpetuating racist ideas", at the least.
Part 2 was interesting, I tried to watch Part 1... I got lost on that part when he started making comparisons to video games.
