so some people boil their water and do not eat chicken and avoid fast food and all sorts of other things to avoid cancer. well what happens after you done all that work to avoid cancer and still get cancer???? i say screw it. eat whatever tastes good and not give a shit. there are so many things that cause cancer that no matter what you do you can't avoid it. it is all luck. there is always some other thing that causes cancer that you never thought about. there are thousands of things that cause cancer. plus there are other disease you can get randomly other than cancer too. so basically do not worry to much about it and hope you get to be the lucky person out of the population. edit: basically I am saying it seem like so much work to avoid eating chicken and lays potato chips and boiling water before drinking it and only buying stuff from organic food stores or only eating food grown from your own garden and not even trusting going to the store. like I am talking about going to the extreme about avoiding cancer. yes I think everyone should be smart and not spray paint without masks and wash hands after handling chemicals before eating food. there is plenty of things that are very high risk that you should do to avoid cancer. I am not gonna list them all but the point of the this thread was my random thought about how not eating chicken to me seems in my opinion not worth it. I made this thread because I read in the hip news section about how the FDA just released some report that chicken causes cancer. and after reading responses in the thread about how some people only eat food from their own garden and boil their water before drinking it I thought oh my gosh. I am a mostly healthy person. I exercise a lot, and do not do drugs not even a single hit of weed in a year, but I could probably eat better.
I live on a fiberglass sailboat. I got a lot of sanding to do. Lots of dust. Then we're painting it-a chemical-rich 2 part epoxy paint. It's a pretty paint. It's a lot easier to do without a mask/filter/breather. And then I need someone to clean up afterwards. You want to help?
I just had some chicken salad a hour ago and am planning on making chicken taco's for dinner in a couple of nights. that hip news article about chicken causing cancer did not scare me at all haha. chicken is the best. buffalo wings and strips are one of my favorite foods. that news article is nothing new. lay potato chips and basically any factory snack food and any freezer dinner can cause cancer too. heck rain from the sky might even have cancer in it haha.
yeah of course some things like that it is intelligent to wear a face mask but I am talking people who go to the extreme about avoiding cancer. I still myself do some things though. like make sure the dishwasher washed the dishes properly so I am not drinking soap water in my glasses or having left over soap residue in my plates. I have done stupid things though. I sawed metal once and did not wear a face mask or breather thing and probably inhaling a crap load of metal dust.
I really do not wanna scare people or nothing but I could make a huge list of everyday things people do that are carcinogenic. I will just say one. I hate to scare anyone but toothpaste has several chemicals in it. still brush you teeth though cus having dirty teeth can also cause infection, cancer, and disease haha. so whether you use cancer toothpaste or get rotten teeth either one causes cancer so it does not matter which side you choose you are doomed. oh and sorry for 3 posts. I forgot to multi quote.
I used to burn asbestos wrapped copper wire in an open fire pit then shake the crap out of it with a pitch fork and Im still alive
15% of all lung cancer cases are by non smokers. smog from cities and other things. it is all chance. you could spend your whole life being careful and still get cancer or you could spend your whole life doing stupid things that are super risky and not get cancer. of course there is stuff that increases your chance greatly such as being a construction worker, working with cleaning agents everyday as a janitor, and stuff like that. but my point is you could be one of those crazy people who only eat food from their own garden and live in the wild and use no chemical products ever and stuff like that and still end up with cancer. but yeah there is plenty of common sense stuff. like sniffing coke laced with who knows what can increase you cancer risk greatly. and like that other guy said painting without a mask is really stupid. inhaling poison chemicals is not smart. hair dyes can cause cancer. but I am not gonna list everything cus I do not want people with fear disorders to trip out.
Being aware of what can or cannot danger your health by trying to avoid it can only benefit. Some people don't care if they only live to 40 and suck down cigs and alcohol daily, others quit early and are trying to make it to 90, getting the most out of life as possible. I believe anyone can avoid a lot of cancers and health concerns by looking at things how they are, accept it, and avoid it. Also dwelling on anything won't help in the matter. When i was in my teens i didn't care about my health, well i did but i sure as hell didn't take it seriously. Its different now, i simply choose to avoid as much as i can because i want to live. Some things like Not buying or drinking anything that comes out of plastic or alluminum. Not putting on deoderant after a shower. Drinking a lot of water since my place has its own clean well. Not eating anything processed. No cigs. No alcohol. No fastfood, period. No lotions of any kind. I know their are others but i can't remember right now.... Its just a choice of a lifestyle. I want to live and avoid cancer as much as possible and i still enjoy life without being paranoid. In the end if i do make it to 90 happily then it was worth it, i might not though, but i don't know the result so i continue to live healthy. My great grandma raised me for the first 7 years of my life and she later died at 100. She lived positive and tried to stay healthy, and she died a very happy woman with a clear head at that age. She is the main reason i've switched my life around in the last 4 years.
Actually just about everything we eat or drink are known carcinogens like tannin in tea and coffee, most coloring agents and artificial sweeteners, most spices we use to tenderize meat or enhance the flavor like black pepper, the doughnuts we eat for breakfast are awful for our health, and as for fast food there’s nothing worse than hamburgers, hotdogs, and French fries – so eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we will die ~ sigh~ Hotwater
I am going to go ahead and live as healthy of a lifestyle as I possibly can... it makes me happy to care about what is going in my body.
With cigarettes, it isn't the risk of cancer that bothers me but the decreased lung capacity. I'm tempted to buy a tin of dip right now.
Reasonable risks. As a cancer survivor and a nurse, I get a little irritated with the, "Fuck it, you should do whatever you feel, man!" and the, "Everything will kill you!" people. My decisions I make are based off research I've presented to my oncologist, my knowledge as a healthcare professional, and common sense. I don't need someone who's never experienced cancer to tell me the fact I drink at least two cups of tea a day and only eat organic, grain fed, antibiotic free chicken that I'm wrong. In turn, I don't tell other people how to live; I make suggestions if asked. I realize this is a rant, but it's just silly. Stop being angry about people's lifestyle choices that don't affect you. It's none of your business.
I have a relative who has been battling ovarian cancer since she was 15. she's 23. Nothing to do with what she put in her body.
whatever man. do whatever you want. I never said I was angry about people's life choices nor did I say you are wrong???? I also did not tell anyone how to live either. I simply am saying that there is so many things that cause cancer that you could do all this preventive measure crap to prevent cancer and still get cancer anyway. understand?????
people that avoid squirrels, cause they say they have Rabies .. I want to bite them in the nuts and give them testicular cancer .. the fucks!!!
when I was out fishing this dang squirrel kept trying to break into my food box. I scared it away several time but it always returned. so finally I picked up a huge stone and threw it hard at the thing and took it out in 1 accurate shot.
you go fishing, feed a bunch of fish your chum bait and cant give a piece of dough-ball to a squirrel.. and you wonder why?..
