Do you think people make an alias just to look at profiles? I have several zero post names that have looked at my profile. Odd and kinda lame, if so. Anyways, just my random thought of the hour.
I've noticed that too on my profile page. Members who have absolutely zero posts but have supposedly been around here for years. Kind of creepy if you ask me.
I'm sure there are plenty of those, but in such a case, why even bother registering? You can't even PM, I believe, until you have a certain amount of posts?... I dunno, I haven't noticed this phenomenon as 1, I don't look at my visitors very often and 2, even when I do, I don't pay attention to names I don't know.
Because a lot of forums have settings where you can't view a lot of the content without being a registered user.
You have to register and log in to look at profiles. You become a member and get PM after 7 days, whether you post a lot or none. After you have paid your $15, there is no reason to use an alias to look at profiles. You can just turn on Invisible Mode.
i would get some wierdos adding me on yim. then when i would ask who they are, they would ask for the nooodz.
I guess the reasons vary. The types of people that browse peoples profiles but don't post much, don't really care if their only name comes up...but a few regulars might use an alias for that reason. I don't care about them. I don't like the regulars who post under aliases...that sucks.
I sometimes use alias's for certain conversations when I know that if I post under my known names I will be judged souly on what people already assume of me... but I don't go around lurking on them.
this is true, typically chatters and posters are two different breeds. There are a few cross breeds, so I have heard.
