Can TVs be too big? Causewheneer i go into JB HiFi and look at all the crap i cant afford it just seems that TVs are getting bigger and bigger.
if they're so big that the picture quality is reduced, then that is a problem. also, some of those huge projection tvs can't handle video games, which is about 80% of what i use a tv for anyway, but i think projection tvs are going the way of the vcr anyway
Yes, a TV can be too big, especially if viewing distance is limited. A TV image consists of a series of lines, and there are a fixed number of lines (525 for standard analog TV in the US) in the image, regardless of how large the image is. Therefore, the larger the image, the "fatter" the scanning lines get. This can look really bad at larger screen sizes unless you can move far enough away from the screen so the individual lines cannot be seen.
That is the size of the newest plasmascreen tv. eight and a half feet! wicked That's bigger than big Jim and the twins.
My parents are a bit nuts... we have a "63 widescreen with HDTV... I have a 19 inch sanyo that I'm quite proud of.
