I’m a bi but mostly gay man. I’ve been working with a doctor and my therapist about removing my penis and testicles. I’m not sure why I’m posting about this here and now, but I just need to vent a little. I can’t believe I have to convince a group of strangers to allow me to do something to my own body. If I was taking hormones and presenting feminine, they’d have okayed the procedure months ago.

Men modifying their bodies is a sticky situation. Tattoos and piercings are okay but doing anything more extreme gets into a different area. Women can do tattoos, piercings, and even their breasts without issue. There have been women who have modified, reduced, their breast size so they could play a better game of tennis. Or blow them up to look like a Barbie doll and then some. Then there's having a hysterectomy which eliminates all chances of her having a child. All these mods are done without psychological intervention. But if a guy want's breast implants, a castration, or a penectomy he must be deemed sane enough to be allowed the procedure. It is easier for a man to have breast augmentation surgery but it is not as acceptable as a woman having it done. Actually a woman is praised for doing so.
