Is it my problem that I just can't see any enjoyment or logic in this or is it really all completely utterly stupid? Everyone I hang out with in my university at one point or another turns out to be stupid. Their conversations are still all about sex, homophobia, & boobs. Is this just a phase in life or a new cultural stupidity rising upon the horizon? I do not know. No one has any intelligent conversations with other people and the people who do harbor some sort of intelligence turn out to be neurotic, psychologically challenged in some social issues. This is especially true with girls when I hang with them, they dont even care that I am around, start talking about ridiculous matters to embarrasing to describe. Yet, they ask me if anything is wrong? Wrong?! I have limited my social interactions to hi and bye, but then if you do that , you feel very lonely. Sigh, life is turning out to be too harsh at age 20.

In highschool I never got that impression, mostly because free thought was very encouraged and most people in my entire class (all 42 of em, heh heh) had developed their own personal philosophy on life by the end of Senior year, each of which was different and unique. However, I come to college for my education, and pretty much everyone is the SAME. They're materialistic, consumeristic, and hedonistic, and they find it shocking that I prefer a stress-free minimalist and simplistic lifestyle to the mainstream lifestyle of America, and that I have no desire to have sex with someone that I'm not in a loving relationship with. Well, I'm hating it so much here at UCD that after this quarter I'm transferring out. Sorry, but paying 40+ grand a year so I can teach myself out of a fucking textbook just isn't my thing. I'm going back home to Oregon and transferring to University of Portland which is basically a college version of the Highschool I went to. Plus, my closest friends go there as well! Hell, maybe the people there will be able to comprehend that not everyone enjoys being consumed by consumerism.
Indeed, my friends are by no mean stupid, and we've had many conversations about space, god, philospophy, politics, ect, but most of the time, we just like to do stupid things, we're 18, 19 and 20, not 59,60 and 61.
Age has nothing to do with it. Haven't you ever heard old people talk about bullshit war stories for hours on end? Complain about their failing health? Their small talk is just a lot less imaginative.
That is not small talk , small talk involves asking another person how he/she is doing, if they did this , did that, how their life is. However, If you can't get over "boobs", "cleavages" and other things associated with them, then either you are mentally challenged or just completely brain washed with media. I would go with the second choice. And you know what the funny thing is, most of these people want to be doctors. I pray God though that they lose their stupidity before going into medicine where most of them will be working with other people's bodies...

Listen buddy, These things are biologically enamouring I don't contest that, but I guess you didn't get my point, they are not the only things they should think about. Also, these pre-meds are not the people whom I would see as doctors, what I don't get is how they can behave like this and still think they are fit for the responsiblity over another human being.

Where are you meeting the people you're complaining about? Try getting involved in some honors club or something -- something that hosts educational meetings or discussion groups. You'll meet people there who like to talk about serious stuff outside of class...
Sigh, the sad part is I am meeting these people in the library. Yea will do that thanks for your advice...but the point is - it is sad to see people limit themselves to such instincts and make it their destiny to dwell on them intentionally. The point is that we are all turning more into animals than anything, thank you.
What? So ? I think women should dress professionally in academic settings how is this contradictory to the idea that men should not intentionally continuously dwell on ridiculous subjects?
Man, in almost everythign u are RIGHT. i find the same, thing 100 % of my friends turn out to be stupid idiots... adn talk shit, so i talk shit to. and of course theres always times when talkign shit is enough so we can talk about "life" BUT.... talking smart to a girl ? if yo usay that, then you did not realize much... girls are different humans, they are stupid and if you talk to them smartly it just doesnt work... i wish i could talk and discuss smart things with my g/f.. but if i will , she will think i am fucked and dump me.. becuase it is not what she wants.. their brains work in shitty stupid, "give birth - life accomplished" way..... the only way is MEN, and beleive me, there are smart ones... but not as many.
That in and of itself is not contradictory The thread demanding that women cover up, yet here saying that if you can't keep yourself from being distracted by breasts etc means that "... either you are mentally challenged or just completely brain washed with media..." is what's contradictory. You're basically criticizing people who can't think of things other than boobs as being mentally challenged, yet you created a thread talking about how you can't keep your eyes to yourself... realistically, you're insulting yourself more than anyone else with that, but it is kind of amusing Not trying to attack or anything, just wanted to point out that lack of cohesion in your arguments on here. riiiight. Of course, all women are solely driven by the urge to give birth, we don't have any other drives or goals in life. And of course that give birth prerogative means that we couldn't possibly want a higher education, our "shitty stupid" ways mean we can't possibly get into university. waiiit. wait, damn, I'm in uni and I don't want to have kids, ever... and even if I do get that urge eventually I'd much rather adopt than give birth myself.
