It's been around since the late '50s Ban the Bomb days, but it has become the icon of our times in the '60s and '70s, the "Peace Sign" eace: of our youthful counterculture. It has now been overused by fashion, worn by ppl who have no regard to its symbolism. However, having had it as a big part of my life, I have put it permanently on my skin. Shale Peace Tat Apr 2008 I have notice it being worn by others as a tat and was wondering how many here have a peace symbol on their bod. Maybe share pics. OH, having seen the movie Paul about a standard stranded extraterrestrial alien :alien: I was surprised to find that he was wearing a Peace tat on the same location as mine. Wow, a universal brotherhood! Paul Peace Tat
Some still know what it means, in regards to 1960s and 1970s hippie culture, including some young people in their teens and twenties who weren't even born yet then, but still appreciate some of the better ideas of that era of time, including peace and the avoidance of unecessary war, environmental causes and so forth..
I love peace symbols, as tattoos, jewellery... I don't have any tattoos-yet!- but as soon as I can I'm getting a peace symbol tattoo
I am getting the symbol tattooed on my left wrist in the next month I'm a strong supporter of the CND, so getting it would be to show that. I also wear the symbol on alot of my clothes and jewellery, again to so my support for the cause.
I don't feel that it matters anymore. Theres videos all over youtube of girls fighting and one of the 2 are always wearing a jacket or shirt with a peace symbol on it. If I see it tattooed on anyone in current times I think theyre stupid because 90% of the time, they just wanted a tattoo. Not saying thats everyone, but sometimes you can just tell it took them 3 seconds after walking in a parlor to decide between that, a star, or the Fox logo because that's what's in at the moment.
