I want to get a laptop with more memory. What i mostly use the computer for is artwork, music and internet. I've heard that macs are better in the graphics dept, but i just wonder if i'm going to be frustrated trying to find all the mac compatable equivilents of the programs and browser add ons that i'm used to.

Is firefox mac compatable? I really like firefox. The add ons are so helpfull. So....

Opinions? Advice? Feedback? Insults? Dirty jokes?

Firefox runs on Mac. For art, music, and internet, i think you'll be pretty much covered.

If you really need windows, but only occasionally, you can always install boot camp and then your laptop can run both windows and OS X.

Other than games and very specialised business applications, there's not much you can't find for Mac.

Thanks y'all. I think i'm going to try a Mac for sure. Good to know it runs firefox. I hate having stuff i don't want like that piece of crap windows media player...can't uninstall it 'cause it's more profit for MS that way.
I'm sure Macs either have a good media player or support a good media player.

You can use iTunes or Songbird (among others) on a Mac.

mac mac mac mac mac mac mac mac mac...mac
The difference between a mac an a pc is that you will love your mac for everything it is and you will hate your pc because it will decide not to work. Anything a pc can do a mac can do better, and my experiences have not proven me wrong yet. cheers:)
Don't get me wrong though, i love windows...i just wish it worked:(

No matter what, if you get a mac, one day you will be limited by its allotment of programs. I will never buy a mac until they have more programs and hardware acessories.

save yourself a couple hundred dollars... get a pc that will have equivalent or better hardware than a mac can offer... but get one with xp, cause vista sucks.

Well, the way my finances are going i may end up doing that anyway. I agree about Vista..seems like the only one's who don't say it sucks are the ones who don't have it.
My impression is that it isn't really better, just uses more memory for fancier graphics and whatnot. I like XP because it's customizable and i can choose all my own colors and stuff...i don't know if Vista is like that too, but i am happy with XP. I just wonder if a mac would be better for doing artwork and stuff---it's supposed to have better graphics. Probably though, how much money i have to spend will be the deciding factor.

dont get me wrong, i did like some of the features vista offered... but the negatives outweighed the positives... like after booting up i was already using one of my two gigs of ram... ridiculous. if you do decide to go with a pc, dont get a hp. i removed vista from my friends and it took about a day to get all the drivers loaded back on there with xp due to hp's crappy download website... ended up having to chat with support and have them send me multiple versions of multiple drivers... ugh. anyways, i would recommend an thinkpad. they may not look great but they perform well and are well built.

I worked with a company where the president uses a Macbook and the Sales Manager uses a PC laptop. The Sales Manager was angry because the Macbook ran Windows XP faster than the PC laptop. I have heard this from many people since then. My business partner just got a Mac because Vista was choking his PC. He says that the Mac runs Vista very smoothly.
