I can't believe they don't know who has the people under hostage. I hope they get everyone out safely.

 

If credit for these attacks is taken by Islamic groups, which it almost certainly will be, I am most curious to see the response of "moderate islam". I don't mean what some imam says on youtube; I mean a real response. I really hope this pushes that religion and region to have a schism and an uprising against the tyrannous and murderous faction which has hijacked their futures. Sadly muslim arab refugees will suffer the most from this, as they are the exact demographic which is also perpetrating these crimes, and they will have quite the uphill battle trying to find a home in the western world.

It's my opinion that europe as a whole should be much more exacting of its borders in a more long term sense. These are the barbarians at the gates, and they are being waved right in under the flag of democracy and liberal values of tolerance.

I can't even process the horror itself right now.

This just happened a couple of hours ago. Unless the attackers identify themselves directly, they have no way to know except by conducting an investigation. An investigation may be hindered by multiple claims of responsibility for the attacks.

The latest report on CBS at 7:30 PM was that there were 100 killed in the concert hostage. They threw explosives into the crowd. So, at last count 160 dead and multiple wounded. Numbers will be set by tomorrow I suppose.

Placing "phobe" at the ass end of a word or phrase is a common tactic of people who want to shut down a discussion or an attempt to segregate someone from the discussion. It's not the sort of thing that I'd expect from freethinkers. Any time now I expect someone to dredge out the Inquisition or the Crusades as a "justification" for this. There are all manner of conflicting reports of course, but the last time there was an attack in Paris, at Charlie Hebdo, the same thing happened. So many said "wait till they admit it" and then after it was admitted the same people couldn't be found for comment.

I have friends all over the middle east who are scared shitless of ISIS/ISIL. They kill plenty of devoted muslims as well. They are a cancer on humanity and yet, we must coddle them and "try to understand" them? I think they have been very vocal and are rather easily understood by most. So where is the confusion? Even Obama bombs these assholes.

 

i don't see the provocation of 'thoughness' as a logically probably solution, nor its opposite as "coddling". i don't claim to have answers though. those just don't seem like very likely ones to me.

at any rate, i've yet to hear of any claims by the attackers as to who they are or what, if anything, they want, besides proving that people can be killed simultaneously in multiple places with little or no warning they are likely to be.

what if its a 'christian' group who hates gays? or fanatical capitalists who hate atheists? until authorities have apprehended and questioned someone responsible, we really, honestly have absolutely no idea.

only that a more then a hundred, and less the two hundred so far, have been killed in multiple places, in and around paris.

 

until we know more, governments are neither more nor less suspect then anyone else.
historically some governments have done such things. no one at this point, is above or below suspicion.
so far as of this point and as far as i know, none of the attackers have claimed anything. they've just killed people.
