If you are younger as myself, you've had mom or dad give u a bullshit order or lengthy speech. It's anoying and it doesn't work. Even if they're right, u don't want to hear it. Mabey uhave a problem like this, or one similar to it. Chances are that a Nazi invented parenting and all it's rules. I want a different method, so tell me how it should be man.

Wouldn't it be cool if a scientist invented like a machine that like moved time, and accidentallyturned back to the sixties where love was free and hippies never stoped the the message?

Well, I'm not a younger, but I'm a mom to 4 grown kids. And I know exactly what you are talking about. For some unknown reason a lot of parents develop a particular brand of amnesia concerning how things were when they were younger. Very strange, maybe it's early onset altzimers...;)

So many parents decide to but heads and tell their kids exactly what is and is not acceptable, and lots of times it gets out of hand and the repercussions are long lasting. Worst thing a parent can do is to go on a head butting contest with their kids, because they ALWAYS lose. In some tribal cultures it was very common for people to be considered adults as soon as they hit puberty. And it worked. Who do we think we are that our kids are too stupid to be adults while others are not?

I can think of SO MANY TIMES when something would come up and I had a choice which road I took with one of my kids. I had some pretty clear choices of either go to war with them and create a lot of needless hostility (and rebellion) or allow them some freedom to make their own mistakes and be there for them if needed.

This seems to have worked. My kids are all grown now and having kids of their own and we are a VERY CLOSE family, very open with each other, friends. No huge family dramas. I refuse to do it. I lived on a battlefield as a child, just like most kids do. You want one thing and your parents won't allow it. Over and over again, all the rules get in your way, all the "musts" and "shoulds" and "have to's" and THREATS if you don't, it's a wonder any of us survived.

Honestly, it's the same as training animals. If you punish them more than you show them respect and love, they just get used to it and rebel. If you show mostly love and understanding, when you DO get upset with them, they HEAR it better...

Yea trust me man. At your age EVERYBODY thinks they're right. When your 20 you'll realise "fuck, I was such a little prick" and you'll REALLY realise that your MORE than fuckin lucky your poor parents didn't throw you out on your deadbeat fuckin ass. Your parents are the only people in the world who will ever love you for who and what you are. I only have one left, and I'm REALLY lucky my mom didn't throw my brother and I out on our asses MANY times. Grow up and start respecting your parents kid. Your one lucky little punk they let you live in THEIR house and eat THEIR food!

^^Agreed. Grow up, little dude. And you think Nazis invented parenting? AHAHAHAHA!!! Nazis weren't really around until the 1930s...I'm pretty sure the concept of "parenting" has been around a bit longer than that.

What do you do for a living, may I ask? ...Oh? No job? Hmmm...a lot of people who don't have jobs end up on the street. Why don't you join them in their cardboard boxes and walk the walk instead of talking the talk?

Yeah my Step dad is a prick who thinks hes right about everything. And my mom has a shitload of mental health problems and wants the world to revolve around her and, of course, thinks SHES right about everything. And im an over educated sixteen year old who knows there is no such thing as being right(in most cases). They're bustin my balls about "growing up" and living in the "real world" and getting a 40 hour a week job like them(they both fucking hate their jobs). I keep telling them that that is not the "real world" but they're convinced working 40 hour a week jobs you hate, coming home and yelling at you significant other the rest of the day, and then telling your kid how to live his life, is indeed the "real world". Thats just a version of the real world.

They also give me shit about school. When they tell me to get a job i tell them learning in school is my job. But they tell that school is privelage and i do believe its a privelage. But its also my job. Just because i dont get paid and cuz i dont hate it doesnt mean its not my job. I need a good education so that i dont get stuck working a shitty job like them for the rest of my life. I appreciate that they do all that work and support me, but holy fuck, lay off my balls.

Hmm. Maybe 40 year olds should look at the free spirit of 16 year olds and say "holy shit! were being total douche bags, this isnt what i want to be"
Idk. In the end im very happy with life and my parents are miserable. and they choose to be.

ah. And yet again your youthful ignorance furthers my point. I'm almost 21, not 40. I'm just not an ignorant little prick therefore I wouldn't expect you to understand what I'm trying to get into your small little teenage brain. Your youthful spirit huh.....ya thats not spirit, it's ignorance and stupidity. Respect your parents punk. Some day you'll regret you didn't. Grow up and stop being a little shit stain.

I'm actually quite respectful to my parents although i disapprove of their lifestyle. Im just saying that theres multiple ways to teach people and all these people seem to have the same cliche views on life. And you should never under estimate the brain of anyone, sir. Not all teenagers are ignorant "shit stains" though a good majority of them are.

I fully agree with you. That's a good point. I don't hate teenagers. Just all the little pishers who don't respect their parents. As I said, parents are the only people in life who will love you no matter who or what you become. And you only get two of em. They are also they ONLY people in the world who will let you live in their house and eat their food for free while you run around getting stoned with your friends for years. Respect em kids.

Ps. - if you think most of em have the same ways to raise their kids....you really need to read some of the peoples stories on here. There are LOADS of parents who raised their kids differently and they turned out to be open minded, loving people. Some of em also turned out to be fuck-offs.

Yeah. Well i only got one parent(two if you count my step dad but he didnt come into the picture til about 2.5 years ago). And ive always been respectful. Always tryed my hardest in school, ive never been high or drunk, i dont go out to crazy partys, i dont take advantage of her. Although i was a little shit for the first 11 or 12 years of my life. Turned out i had really bad Bi polar/A.D.D. Once i started takin my meds i stopped doin shit like throwing chairs across the room. And now i can not take my meds and control my temper and how i react to things. So all and all im pretty respectful to my mom. I just wish she treated me with more respect. I know shes the one that lets me live under her roof and feeds me, but if she treated more like an intelligent person and less like a 4 year old(she still tells me how to cross the road safely) then things would go a whole lost smoother for both of us.
I think me and her just arent too close since she raise me by herself and she always at work and when she wasnt at work she was at home being tired and or relaxing so she never really had time to raise me. I more or less to the initiative to raise myself by listening to teachers, reading, listening to music, studying philosophys exc..

Yea, I'm the same. My mom raised me since I was 7. She was always at work. When she was home she was tired or with a boyfriend. I drink and do drugs and have for a long time, but you brought up the crossing the street thing, man thats just what moms do. That's just so ingrained in them. I'll be 21 in 2 months and my mom still tells me not to eat to much or too fast because I'll get a stomach ache. She still tells me to drive safe and she tells me to wear a helmet when I go biking. Thats just what they do man. It's not at all a lack of respect or babying thing. It's just a mom thing. She'll never stop, so you might as well just get over it.

I was wrong to assume. I just assumed because of his age he'd be an ignorant little fuck like most of you are :) I wasn't aware he wasn't a pot smoking, parent hating, authority hating, little no good bastard.

lol its just fun to say you're a walrus. I think a good percentage of people who listen to the beatles are stoners. I kinda get a natural high from listenin to them. Them and Pink Floyd & led zeppelin.
