So, My Mom And I Were Talking On The Subject Of Medicinal Uses Of MJ Last Night...I Didn't Really Have Any Good Arguments On The Subject. I would benefint from medicinal weed use for 3 reasons 1.I'm suffering from anerexia nervosa 2. I have bipolar disorder 3. I'm an insomniac..Perhaps Some of My Fellow Weed Smokes Could Help Me....

    1. weed will make you hungry. hell, it makes me love food. something about it affecting the metabolic rate and hypothalimus. don't trust me, do your homework. plenty of info online.

    2. being bipolar, and not being able to grow up and deal with it without medication-is a perfect reason not to smoke. my mother has self-medicated for yrs, along with trying various prescriptions, and has only gotten worse. i am "technically" bipolar, but have not lost control since i was a teen. this is not an affliction unless you cop out and allow it to be. you simply experience life in a more extreme way, which may or may not be a bad thing, depending on how you react to the various dramas that we all have to deal with. if you rely on medication, you will gradually get worse, and forever be a slave.
3.people will tell you that weed helps them sleep, i'm sure. in the long run, heavy marijuana use-especially as a way to fall asleep-will actually cause insomnia.

i don't mean to lecture-you should be fully prepared when arguing with parents. they have a lot of experience, and will pick your weaker statements apart in seconds. things marijuana is good for:

    munchies.
    boredom.
    video game fuel.
    for some, artistic inspiration.
source of money for those with limited options.
those with chronic pain and no hope.
    self analysis
    different point of view
relieves pressure in the eyes-may deteriate vision after long periods of use.
sense of community with people you have absolutely nothing else in common with-
    easy popularity.
    topic of debate.
industrial hemp-plastics, fuels, lubricants, paper, rope, cloth, cancer-preventing food, economy-booster (grows more per acre and in less time than most american money-making crops).
most of all, to feel good without having to earn it (or so you may think).

i love weed, but it has it's downsides. i won't waste time with that, because that is the media's main focus anyway. my point is that if you treat something sacredly, it is sacred. if you treat it as an addiction, that's what it is.

if you ever want good info, go to erowid.org, man.

Ok, you're an anorexic, bipolar, insomniac....

Your brain chemistry is screwed up as it is, I wouldn't dare fuck with adding cannabis, or any other drug for that matter to your brain. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm merely reiterating what you said.

Let me start with some facts. First of all with anorexia, cannabis probably won't stimulate your appetite, because anorexia has nothing to do with your stomach it’s all mental. It's not that you're not hungry, you just don't want to eat. Anorexia also puts a particular strain on the structure and function of the heart and cardiovascular system, with slow heart rate and elongation of the QT interval seen early on. People with anorexia typically have a disturbed electrolyte balance, and particularly low levels of phosphate, which has been linked to heart failure.

If you smoke pot your heart rate speeds up, and your blood pressure decreases. Like a downshift in a car’s transmission. Not a problem for most of us, but it could be too much for you and you could end up in the back of an ambulance.

As for bipolar disorder, and insomnia, I’ve heard positive things about using cannabis to treat them, but with your anorexia I would not recommend this at all. If I were you I’d talk to a qualified psychologist about how you can receive real help for these problems.

doesn't mean weed won't make him hungry. i know what anorexia is. i've known people who had it. i've also known those who got over it with pot and self analysis, which pot will also help with. if you bothered to read the rest of my post, you would have seen that i wasn't telling him pot would fix his problems. i don't appreciate you calling me names, either. what's the point in that? do you need someone to tell you you're smart, or give you a cookie? you're smart. you're on your own with the cookie-their mine, and i'm not sharing them with you. when the guy at the top get's the munchies, i'll share with him.

funny how posts sometimes look angry when they weren't even meant that way. add a joking tone of voice to that last one.

All I can say is this, I really do have insomnia (To many tragic events for one life I guess) and smokeing weed doesn't help me a damn bit(when im suffering from a bout of it)! And as for being Bi-polar, I think chances are thats connected to your sleeping and eating disorder. Just keep your self in check and don't use that as an excuse. You don't sound to bi-polar from what little I've heard...

And also, I used to be a tweaker for years, and if your not hungry and need to eat, then just eat!
None of those problems are going to be fixed by just sitting around and smokeing pot, or just sitting around, you have to work to fix problems like that, or they just get worse.
