Just been painting my flat, thought i was all protected with my hair up.
Nope. Ive got white/magnolia paint in my black dreads, only mainly on ends but some more in the middle. Im not talking one or two dreads, I'm talking at least 12... No idea how i managed it but I'm clearly not as amazing at painting as I once thought..

Ive not yet tried to get it out, but will be showering very soon and wondered if anyone has any tips? I'm almost 6 months in, and my hair has knotted really well and is quickly maturing.. the last thing i want to do is ruin it!

I'd have thought it would slowly come off like it does on your hands... but I guess it's probably more like having paint on your clothes. You can maybe just pick it out? or carefully use some paint thinners and wash it straight out?

It's probably important to know what kind of paint it was. Not that I have an answer but someone may.

Mineral Spirits is good for oil based paints. I got some dark green park bench paint on a white cotton skirt once and I remember that almost taking it completely out.

    Latex should pick out.

Maybe try dosing the paint spots with a good deal of tea tree oil or another oil substance that's ok to put on your head, if it's more oil based.

Beyond that, Varsol and a Q-tip. Last resort!

i also got magnolia paint in my dreads a few months back. as in, i bent over, stood up, and then felt something slop against my neck.... dread end COVERED in paint. most of it came out with my normal washing routine, but i do still have random specks of paint.. but i think thats the wood paint i used on my shed, not matt emulsion bedroom paint.

so in simple terms, matt emulsion will wash out fine

It took a week or so but its completely out now.. a lot of it had just sucked right into the centre of the dread and it was stuck, but i got it out, i just used shampoo instead of baking soda:)
