Okay, so what is the difference between Oxycontin vs. Oxycodone? I am assuming Oxycodone IV-ed would give a similar effect and rush to Oxycontin? Are they just to different brands?

As Stonedage says - oxy-contin is slo release. If you crush it to IV or snort you need to be cautious. You may be able to chew up 40 mg and get a good high - but to shoot it up might be chancy - particularly if you have a low tolerance. Don't croak because of ignorance. If you're going to croak at least know you are pushing the boundaries

Oxycodone is the active chemical is Oxycontin.

Oxycontin is a narcotic pain reliever. It is in a slow release formula, which is what Ddoright said. It contains the chemical oxycodone as stated above, as well as other inactive ingredients.
