hey guys. i have heard about cloning alot, but never really asked about it. if i have some plants outside already growing, coudl i make cuttings of them and simply plant them? how easy is it to do? if it can be done somewhat easily, wouldnt it be like the plant was already grown somewhat so it should be able to get larger then if started from seed..? or shoudl i just let the plant grow without cloning, which would be better yield wise? thanks alot
no you can't cut and plant directly into the ground. You could cut, then bring them inside. Cuttings need very high humidity levels and 24 hour light to get rooted.
The main advantage of cloning isn't for faster growth (more yield). The main advantage is knowing exactly what the clone will develope into, both in terms of sex and other charactoristics such as potency, etc. With seed propogation there is always a certain amount of variation, the same way that siblings from the same parents will yield a variety of children in a family. With clones every new plant is an exact copy of it's doner plant - it is the same plant! What ninfan has said is essentially true. While not being totally impossible, the success rate would be low, at best, and the "proper" conditions are more easily kept under control inside.
