Many of us looked to the day when we'd have our first female president. Patty Duke even had a sitcom about that in the 80s. And many even thought we'd have a female president before anything else. But sadly, and who knows why, that never works. Hillary Clinton lost in 2016 and Kamala Harris this time. It's sad to have to say this. But maybe next time we should just avoid that situation (if there is a next time).
