I am so glad my fiancee's dog is ok. The vet. said it's a urinary tract infection, and no need to worry. We thought he might die. He was drinking four bowls of water a day and peeing every 15 minutes. Thank God it's not life or death yet; he is old.
Go to the health food store and pick up a bottle of organic cranberry pills (in powdered form so you can break them open and mix it in with pup's food). One a day keeps UTI's away.
I agree with the relief you must be feeling at the thought of anything happening to your old dog. I'm assuming your veterinarian put her/him on antibiotics to clear up the infection, so if you find her having runny stools, I would suggest you cook her up some plain white rice which you can add in small amounts (1/4 cup) to her food while she is taking the medication. Very good news indeed, since there is nothing more special in the world than old dogs!
