On Sunday I was over at my friends' T & S's house. They are married (Zach and I were friends with the husband (T) first) and like Zach and I are very big into animal rescue. When they first got married (2 years ago) they adopted a male Rotti and a Female Persian mix from the local SPCA. The Persian is named Meeshoo. She was named this because she has extra toes on all of her feet.

Also in the home there is a male German Shepard/greyhound mix, a tarantula, and a Gecko. All of them are also rescues.

About a month ago S was at work and noticed there were a LARGE amount of strays by the dumpster. All of them were trapped by the SPCA and placed for adoption. All except two, both of whom S took home before she even called the SPCA. One was an obviously pregnant cross-eyed female Siamese whom she and T named Fifi. The other is a pure white blue-eyed male Siamese whom they named Casper. They had to keep them together because they absolutely refuse to leave each other.

A little less than week after Fifi moved in she had her kittens. Four, all very healthy, and all obviously Casper's. Casper has now been neutered, and Fifi will be spayed as soon as the kittens are old enough to ween. Vet's orders...he said to wait.

Anyways, when I was over there on Sunday I was petting Fifi and the kittens and playing with them. I was giving all of the animals-even the Tarnatuala-attention. Well, apparently, Meeshoo is VERY jealous of Fifi, because when I went over to pet Meeshoo and give her some individual attention, at first she acted nice and then....

SHE SCRATCHED AND BIT THE HELL OUT OF MY LEFT HAND!!

She's never done anything like that before! I've known her since they adopted her as a kitten and she's always been so sweet! My hand is swollen and looks like hell, and now I'm ashamed to say that I'm kind of afraid of Meeshoo! Why doesn't she love me anymore? :(

Vinceneilsgirl..I dont know why cats spazz like this but my 2 year old has scars on her face because Genie(our cat)freaked and clawed the hell out of my baby's poor wittle face. It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. Luckily, my husband is a paramedic and he properly cleaned the wounds..so she healed without infection.but now her face has little scars on her forehead, cheeks, and chin.

My family implored me to get rid of Genie. But I couldn't. I witnessed the attack and believe that Genie panicked when Ellie snuck up on her. She had been growling out a window and pacing...there was a cat on our porch. She was agitated and I messed up. I took my eyes off my agitated cat and toddler.

She didnt intend to viciously assail my kid...it was an accident. Genie is like my 3rd baby and I dont toss away family members because they make mistakes.

sounds like a jealous kitty though. She'll get over it. :)

yeah sounds like she is jealous and extra cuddles might help her feel better... my cat is acting the same kind of way now we have a new (stray adopted) cat move in. I feel very bad for her cause she didnt get much attention when our dog was here, now hes in heaven i was trying to make extra fuss of her, but then this new cat came along, and now old cat doesnt like being in teh same room..lounge...not comfy and at ease the way she used to be [IMG] and the new cat is so bossy, she is a lot like our old dog and just barges her way around, is not timid at all.....while our old cat is timid and shy
Not much i could do though except take the new cat to a shelter and i dont want to do that.. its not like our old cat is being hurt or anything shes jsut really pissed off, not happy someone else is in her space i think and is jealous.

Oh and the new cat is a big and now fat thing, is about twice the size of our old baby, so i guess the new one has the upper hand, which i dont like.
    i dunno,
i help at a cat shelter, its a no kill one, and they get looked after very well by very kind people, but ive seen some cats there go mental and depressed and its not very nice seeing how sad some are.

i dont think i should take this new cat to a shelter, gee now i feel worried about my old cat, thinking its not fair for us to bring into the house a big fatso bossy cat, while she is so timid [IMG]
