Hey, does anyone wear this patch? I just put my first one on last week...I dont use it for birth control, I just wanted to try it to see if it made my PMS better(because I have bad pms!) and to help 'regulate' my period. But, ever since I started using it, last tuesday, I felt so weird. Evertyime I eat a lil bit of something, I feel like throwing up. And then I get really hungry but NOTHING sounds good to me at all. Also my boobs get tender (I know this is a side effect tho) but I got REALLY weird and emotional..I have been crying everyday and throwing fits and being depressed. I mean, I even cried my heart out today, for well, acceptable reasons, but I went WAY over board. And I get so frusterated I start crying, for simple things, like for exsample, I started crying because the heater was up to high, and I had to turn it down! And because I couldn't find an outlet to plug the fan in! Maybe all this emotional stuff is from the patch? Well, whatever, I took it off today! Any commets?
My (extremely unprofessional) opinion is that it's probably too high of a dose that you're getting through the patch. Is there a low-hormone option? I know for the regular pill there is.... talk to your doc to get much mroe informed and concrete info.
I strongly agree. I don't know much about the patch but that I can't use it. In my experience, Ortho-Tricyclen made me psycho-PMS-bitch about 29 days of every month. I went to a lower dose pill, which only made me cry for a whole week every cycle. Blah blah blah, now I'm on a very low dose pill & am doing alright, tho it doesn't knock out the cramps like the other pills did. So, yeah, there is a reasonable chance that your emotional issues are due to the patch. Talk to your doctor -- see how quickly other women noticed side effects, discuss whether to see if your body might adjust, and discuss other options that may be just as likely to take care of your PMS issues (such as a lower-dose pill).
Textbook typical symptoms of combined hormone birth control. This is how a lot of womyn feel on estro-pregest combo BC. Yuck, I hate hormonal BC, myself. I was nauseous the entire time I was taking the stuff.
I'm not sure about side effects, but I can tell you, a friend of mine was on the patch and got pregnant, so if you ARE sexually active, I recommend using another form of birth control as well. As far as the side effects you ARE having, sometimes they will occur for the first month or two while your body is getting used to it, then after that things start leveling off. I got on Yasmin and I have had no problems at all, no side effects, except my boobs grew a cup size (which isn't really a problem). It makes you VERY regular (I can tell you the exact time and day I will start), and it makes your periods less painful. I've also heard of Seasonal, which gives you four periods a year...talk about a FANTASTIC idea! *laughs*
i found with any birth control I have used that the estrogin levils are too high for me . and also with this come hormonal craziness. but also there are side effects that usualy mellow out after teh first month of taking the stuff...depression and sickness is some of that. If it does not go away aftea month or a month and a half I would see about a new perscription.
I used the patch for a while. At first I was fine. Then, about three months into it, I started getting crazy pms feelings all the time. I went off of it, and am back to normal.
I am on the patch and I haven't really had many problems with it. I find that the best places to put it are on your abdomen and upper arm. I usually put it on my abdomen because the upper arm is just too obvious for me. All the times I put it on my back it got stuck to my underwear and I pulled it off when I went to the bathroom... eek! I have found a few dislikes-- it irritates my skin and leaves red marks, dry, scaly skin, and sticky stuff on my skin that doesn't go away for weeks. I also am more emotional, but not too bad. I think it made my boobs bigger, too. Happy, um, patching...
Haha. Yea, well I only used it for a week, and then i took it off, and then i started my period..not fair! I just had it like 2 weeks ago. Grr! But, I know it made me have like even WORSE pms. And when I took the patch off, I had some pimples there..ew! And it did make my boobs hurt (and they STILL do after a week i took it off!) and i think it did kind make them bigger..what da heck? haha. I also heard of that thing that gives u 4 periods a year..i'd like 2 find out more about it! What is it? a patch, pill, what??
I know that depo stops a lot of chicks from having periods all together, and it's an injection. I think that 4 periods a year thing is an injection too, but I'm not sure, dont' quote me on it... it's called somethign like seasonale I think.
