How do we truly know Jesus wasn't a nut, like the guy at Waco, or James town? Tell me something would you go onto a five story balcony to jump out of it, believing & having faith that there is invisible stairway from the window to the ground? Of course you wouldn't, so tell me, how do you know that everything in the Christian religion will come true? Is it because a delusional man that had flesh just like you & I, told you this 2000 years ago? Listen I didn't come here to smash faith, I'm your friend & do not care what you believe in nor anyone else in that manner, I just came for some advice, advice to give to you & your founding faith. It just seems like, organized faith like Christianity or Muslimism has a lot of catching up to do about there unholy stated facts persecuted onto public affairs. For instants, did you know who fed the 83,000 homeless living in L.A last year? The government, only 0.3% of church, by organizations like the catholic church feed & clothed the homeless even though an estimated 75 million were donated to these churches in the same year. Where is all this money gone you ask? It's very simple, just get to know your local minister & you'll find out real fast, him & the people working for HIS church has nice brand new cars & have multi homes to live in. While the guy sitting out side is asking you for a dollar so he can buy some food. Lets face it churches get donations but never put anything back in the community as much as they do, you know? Like actually giving real meals to the homeless or helping seniors pay there light or heat bill in the winter instead having the government take on all the responsibility. To that I end this with a simple but priceless slogan which is, "Organized religion, who needs it?" Just something to think about...
Some people need it because it is their only way to feel like they are part of something. They need it for the community... Not me. But, to each his or her own.
I think some people need religion to feel safe. It provides a solid set of rules to live by, and life after death if you're a good little kiddy. Also there's the whole "having someone watching over you all the time" thing, kind of like children who believe in guardian angels. Religion also provides a reason for existence, a place to fit in, people to turn to when you need help, and someone to tell you what to do. Personally i can't imagine how self centred, naive, and just generally blind someone would have to be to actually believe in this crap. But hey, whatever makes you happy.
