I've never understood why people would not donate their body parts. If you were suddenly killed in a terrible unfortunate accident, why would you not donate body parts of save another life?

On my license i'm an organ donor but i don't understand why some people aren't. I can only think of selfishness, though i may be wrong.

I don't because I worship Rha, and need my heart put in a vase beside my body or I'll enter the afterlife without it.

Seriously though, I don't get it either.

I'm an organ donor too. I don't give a fuck what happens to my body after I die, so my organs might as well be used to save someone.

I've heard some people say that they don't want to be an organ donor because if they do get in a terrible accident, the paramedics/doctors won't work as hard to save them if they're driver's license say's they are one.

Not only are paramedics legally obligates and trained in a position they want to do everything to save your life, they're also not responsible in any way for organ transplants.

Some people use terror to justify their selfishness.

Yeah, I agree it's a stupid excuse not to be one. It's the only one I've ever heard anyone give, other than a religious reason.

Apparently women who are very religious are more likely to be organ donors than average, but men who are very religious are less likely to be organ donors. To leave jesus a good lookin' corpse or something.

If I was part of a religion that didn't allow organ donations, I'd start shopping around at the religion store.

I agree, aside from religious reasons of which I respect. There is no justifiable reason to not give organs when you die. Your not going to need your body, but someone else will.

I really don't understand when people say that they need to be buried "whole" for religious reasons(or any reason), because their body really doesn't go to the grave intact, alot of it wind's up being removed during the embalming process and thrown in trash.

I think people who choose not to donate should not be allowed to receive organs.

Totally agree, it might even make them think different.

I choose not to put it on my driver's license, but every person who knows me in the slightest bit knows my wishes are to be an organ donor. I want to be a face donor specifically. Those face transplants are the most amazing thing, I think, and my biggest fear is being maimed horribly in an accident (I know, I know, it's vain and horrible, but I've been terrified of that ever since the "Not Everybody Dies in Drunk Driving Accidents" PSAs), so I'd like to donate my face if I died. They can have all the rest of the organs, too, sure, but it's impertinent they remove my face. And then I want them to say something about, "Rocking my face off" at my funeral. ;)

I'm not an organ donor, and I don't foresee any change in that decision. I don't see it as selfish.

What do you plan on doing with your organs/body when you die?

Why not just make it mandatory. If people don't like it their free to move or light themselves on fire before death.

I've always thought about importing a bunch of Mexicans and charging a small brokerage fee for their organs.

    I'm a donor.

Some people's aversion to becoming donors must be due to a misunderstanding or a mistrust of the scientific consensus on what happens to a body after it has ceased to function.
