so a good friend of mine took a reletively small dose of LSD (i ended up taking 7.5 hits of the same stuff accidentally ((thought i was only taking 3)), its kinda fucked me up, i was in a terrible environment and when i came to, i was naked in my living room with potting soil everywhere)... he said he looked at the moon and had an epiphany, and that he thought he suddenly can talk to god and that he thought he's the messiah and has to save the world... 2 day's later he has what appered to be psychotic break (atleast from concensus reality), it was so bad that he got tooken away in an ambulence.. he says that god was opening his 3'd eye and that satan was trying to destroy him or something along those lines... he was stable but definately different... then a month later he and his brother and their friend came with me to a festival where we ate a negligable amount of mushrooms, no one got off really... but sure enough a few days later he had another event where he was laughing and crying at the same time for several hours.. we eventually got him out of the tent.. he rationalized how harmless shoving his hands in the fire would be, and so he did it... he was wearing gloves and we ripped him out before he could burn himself.. after that its like he changed into a completely different person.. i talk to him about what he's experiencing, and its all the realest shit that's ever happened to him, and all the stuff that he says makes perfect sense, only there's alot of textbook schizophrenia symptoms displayed (interpreting codes, god talking to him through people and the television).. i believe that he's experiencing actual shit just as much as i believe he's crazy, i mean his explination of everything makes alot more sense than the generally accepted one... anyways, his whole family trips, and he seems to be the only person to have any problems with reality in his family, as far as i am aware.. but yeah, i was just wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiences?
i tripped my ass off last year and 5 days after doing shrooms twice close together i had a psychotic break from just smoking weed. that was a little over 5 weeks ago and im wondering if it would be OK to drop acid but im guessing not any time soon lol.
hmm yeah wondering that, and no i don't know anyone round here that has had this happen. maybe he should be laying off at least for a long time?
I think people should start with mushrooms if they are going to trip. LSD is way more intense. Its all in the state of mind though, if he goes in scared, hes gonna be scared. or if he goes in thinkin he cant be harmed, hes going to continue thinking that. It honestly sounds like he has problems that stem farther then his tripping experiences.
well i think it may have triggered some latent schizophrenia or something... he doesnt think he's crazy.. god just started talking to him, and he had a really scarey religious experience or something a few days after he tripped.. he didnt eat alot of mushrooms either, none of us had any visuals, and i didnt have any mindfuck what so ever
it depends you can function better on 1 hit of acid than on an eighth of mushrooms and you will probibally see more shit on mushrooms.
Having just spent my day at a mental health facility talking to schizophrenics, let me say this. What schizophrenics say DOES seem quite plausible. I think the reason for this is that everyone secretly wants to hold on to the grandiose delusions of our childhood, and also because the hallucinations of a schizophrenic are "real." I mean, if I can hear a voice, and you can't hear it so you tell me it's not real...you are lying. It is real, because I can experience it empirically. So they are quite convincing on these grounds. (After watching a psychiatric team evaluation with a schizoaffective disorder patient, I found myself starting to believe what he was saying...but then I had to remember that he has a mental health disease process). There is some correlation between hallucinogens causing psychotic episodes, and/or making them worse if the person is already psychotic.
my best guess is he became schizophrenic after doing LSD - if you were predisposed to schizophrenia, your first acid trip would cause you to become schizophrenic... but thats based on what I've found - 1 person I know didn't ever tell me he was schizophrenic - and I gave him 4 hits and me 4 and my other friend 3, and the kid freaked out - laughing and crying and walking around restless - it destroyed my trip - I then smoked way way way too much weed at once, I believe damaging nerve cells in my brain. That was right before thanksgiving and I'm still trying to recover. If ever anyone has a trip that doesnt go away after 12 hours - get an antipsychotic asap, before it's too late, your life depends on it. Sorry for getting a bit off topic there
I experienced some rather intense emotional upheaval last year around a month after a trip that i had that went a little sour at the end, I think that what happened was an intensification of some depression shit I was goin through at the time. If you were predisposed to schizophrenia, trippin once does not necessarily mean that you're going to become a schizo - it just increases your chances that it'll cause it to come out soon. One hit of acid is not always equivalent to an 1/8 of shrooms, there are some types of shrooms that you only need a gram of to have a full blown psychedelic experience. And some people experience it the other way around, like me - acid is way more controlable, exciting, fun, thinking...shrooms are confusing, emotionally rocky, way more visual and generally much more uncontrolable. I say it like this - acid is the thinking mans drug. If you normally categorize and analyze shit, acid is for you. The thinking man that takes mushrooms will witness his conceptualization of everything break apart. To those who aren't like that, mushrooms will be an extention of their normal state of affairs and acid will build everything up, making it seem more intense in the sense that it's a total removal from their normal way of thinking. Some people, such as me, I serve as an example of this side of things, have a very high natural tolerance to these sorts of drugs, they don't affect us the way they do everyone else. On the other hand, there are people who are excessively sensitive to the same drugs, and giving them a fraction as much as I would take to get off would be a very bad idea. Dude was probably unstable himself and also extremely sensitive.
