I am concidering buying a KILT. For those who have no idea what a kilt is, it is a skirt made for a Irish man. I am a naturist and do live as much as posible without clothing as the name says. I am also interested in hearing from others who wear them

kilts are acually worn more often in scotland really, and are recognized more as scottish. I've never worn them but I have family who do, I wish I had one.

hahahaha he wants to wear a kilt and he didnt even know they are scottish lmao.
    sorry. :p
Kilts are pretty cool though, one of my older brothers wore one to a school ball when he was 18. I thought that was pretty funky.

unless you are scottish, and carrying around a bagpipe, i say no. when i see a guy wearing one, i usually don't think "hey, look at that guy making a unique fashion statement". i generally think "hey, look a guy in a skirt."
also, i don't know where you live, but if it is a small town, you are likely to get a lot of crap from the neighborhood rednecks for wearing a "skirt" and dressing like a "fag". (which is not to say that i agree with that opinion, i don't). anyway, i'm not sure it would be worth the drama.

but what the hell, it might be fun, just for kicks...

i have a few guy friends who where skirts sometimes (not kilts, straight up skirts) and if youre comfortable in it and youre a guy who can get away with it, go for it. i can tell you with full confidence: wearing a skirt (and only a skirt) is one of the best feelings ever. Obviously itll be a little different for a guy, but im sure it will feel great to you too :)

GO FOR IT! (though i think kilt material might be a bit harsh on the bits and pieces, id probably suggest a soft, plain colored skirt or something)

I know this is a bit late. I just noticed this thread looking for advice on making bell bottomed jeans. Anywho, just wanted to put in my two cents if you still look at this thread. My friends and I have somewhat of a brotherhood going on here in NY where we go out to various clubs wearing kilts. We're fairly well know in some places, and always seem to get our 'Dropkick Murphys' song to play atleast once in the night.

Kilts rule, man! And if people give you static about it, just make 'em feel bad telling them they're making fun of your culture (heehee). We get all our kilts from here:

best of luck to ya:) [IMG]

    That sportkilt link looked nice.
For something a little different you might want to look at www.utilikilt.com.
    The utilikilt has pockets.

Sounds COOL to me.....as in "cool breeze"....

Just watch the old 'twig and berries'....being in public will be a whole new world as you are used to wearing pants in public...watch how you sit and climbing ladders, I am supposing you will be without the consraints of undergarments????

i've known guys who wear kilts. i guess it's cool, but that wool might be pretty itchy, and especially bad in the summer. i'd suggest a nice cotton sarong. i've seen lots of guys wearing them and it looks really good. they're very comfortable too!

Right on Brother! My ex wore sarongs because he loved the way they felt. He actually kept a good three or four of mine.. . Damn he was sexy in a sarong.

While we were together we went to the Oregon Country Fair and found a vendor there that sold kilts. He bought one and ended up wearing it everywhere. He was a carpenter and the people who made the kilts (they're website is utilikilts.com) custom made all their kilts, so his had pockets for nails and stuff. You should check them out.

    Funny,
Was saying last night that I want a kilt to wear with some black boots I have this winter. Know it's a guy thing but what the heck. Oh yeah and the Scottish/Irish thang.....If I remember correctly the people from Scotland originated in Ireland. Anyone know for sure ?
