I am thinking of opening up a vegetarian restaraunt that serves vegetarian food from all different cultures.....Like Ital food, mexican food, etc.....and advertise it as such and also for people with diet restrictions such as gluten free, low sodium, etc.....What do yall think? call it.. The International Vegetarian.

Can you come and open it up in my town?;)

there's NO veggie friendly anything where i live.....and its an hour to the health food store.

a head shop just opened up here tho, and i was talking to the owner about maybe selling vegan friendly food and products and he said its a good idea and he is going to talk to his partner about it........

problem is, i am probably literally the only veg in my entire town...its all hunters and rednecks so it may not be profitable for them to do such a thing...but it would be nice.

If you open this restaurant ...

    I will work for you.

I have seen so many of these open up and fold fast.
Get some restaurant experience first. Kitchen costs and procedures are the same no matter what's on the plate.
Then get investors who REALLY believe in the idea.
you will have no life aside from the restaurant. No shows, no holidays, no weekends.
Start with simply veg with a notice that XYZ dishes can be made for restricted diets. That will allow you to measure demand for high expense substitutes. Could be your Celiacs are fine with all corn corn bread and you won't need to develop rice flour rolls.

also new businesses arent an easy venture as im sure you know. sometimes it can take years just for a new business to break even (financially) so just be prepared for what you are getting into..............

true...i come from a long line of entrepreneurs.....apparently people in my family since the beginning of time have not liked to work for "the man" ......it is quite amusing how people think that my family has money just because we have always had the family business (two hair salons)...but we are all just middle class....

Do you have any cooking experience or are you looking to hire people to work for you? I think a good cook would have to be the foundation of your restaurant. It is all good to appeal to vegetarians, but if you want to succeed you need to find a way to appeal to everyone. Ya know what I mean? If you have not already seen it, here is a cool site... http://www.naturalgourmetschool.com/ i have been thinking about training there but i don't see a lot of job opportunity in my area without starting my own business and I know I am not ready to take on that responsibility.
