    Hi folks,

I'm getting rather exhausted with all the work associated with plants that end up not being worth cloning and moving into bigger containers. So while I wait for new goodies...courtesy of MandalaSeeds....I plan to just grow some seeds of questionable lineage in one gallon containers.

Question: Is there anything inherently wrong with leaving the plants in one gallon containers if I keep the nutes and watering correct?

Should I move to flower sooner?....trim more?...anything special?

    Cheers...:cheers2:

one galllon for every foot of the plant. 1 gal = 1 foot marijuana plant.

So are you saying that I should take the plant out of veg and into flower once it's a foot?

Or do you think it will only reach a foot?

I've seen in the mags pictures of very tall, spindly plants that got a LOT taller than one foot out of a small container (easily a gallon or so), so I'm not sure about your formula unless I was keeping it as a mother plant.

The 1 foot per gallon is more of a rule of thumb; seeing as how every single plant is unique. You can easily grow plants in 1 gal container, even smaller if you use rooted clones, however, since you are going from seed I would recommend just putting the sprouts directly into 12/12 light schedule. They won't begin to flower until they are sexually mature anyhow, and the reduced light during their initial "veg" grow phase will really limit their size.

Interesting about putting them right into 12/12. I'll let them get past the seedling leaves and about 6" high and might go there. I just don't have the space to grow my new beans from Mandala and all these "who-knows-what" seeds at the same time.

On another note, found a baby snake...8-9" and barely round like a pencil...who came into house to get out of cold and put him in the veg. room. It loves it!!

the more dirt you have, the better your plant will turn out.

the best pots are 5-gallon. (those big ones that you make your own wine in).

granted, the plant in my sig was grown in a 1gallon or so container. however, it died partway into flowering of overwatering (my first try at growing), so i dont know if the pot size whould have hampered it when flowering.

The bigger the pot the bigger the bud. Seedling need as much root room as you can give them coz if they get pot bound or need an early repot then that equals stress and stress equals hemi's males or poor yield.
I did red hair skunk as a second flower when i was blooming once planted them rite as i turned the lights down and yeah they did.nt get very big but all came into bloom around the 6-8 week mark, bit of a wast of good seeds really. but if you think of the natural cycle then growing at 12 hours a day and workin the light up to 18 plus a day is more natural.

Maybe I'll have to see how much room I can make. Plants in one gallon pots don't take up near the room of the standard 5 gal. I use for regular grows.
My new beans from Mandala: Satori, Ganesh, Hashberry, aren't here yet, and the beans I've got growing came from 'average source', so I'm not too concerned about how big they get. I'll clone a good looking one and hope for the best.
Also got some beans from Hawaiian grower...but I believe they're for outside so I'm not sure the results I'll see indoors.
    Thanks all~

Lol I'm starting know the feeling again there's just some strains that for the life of me just dont grow well but guess that the same for everybody.
I've grown in 7inch pots and gotten 3-4 foot plants from seeds and cutting and there've yielded ok even get the odd branch flopping with the weight of bud.
