Fox News Had an insulting Broadcast about Wiccans and Pagans here. The petition is to demand that they apologize.

This is exactly why I don't like news.

They think they have the right to say whatever they want because of "free speech".

While I agree that they should be able to broadcast whatever they want, broadcasts shouldn't negatively influence certain people.

They also seem to think personal situations should be publicized world wide.

I love how they were trying to be 'fair and balanced' but totally insulting at the same time.

I don't understand this trend in America where people who get offended feel as though they are owed an apology.

What do you think is happening at the University of Michigan based on that video?

"there's wiccans and pagans out there, i dunno if they make up a large percentage of the population"-0:10

    "we're journalists" 2:18

how the fuck can you call yourself a journalist if you think doing even the most elementary research into a subject you're reporting on is somehow beneath you?

You mean Missouri? I don't know and I don't give a fuck. If they want to recognize Wiccan (which is in the same league as Scientology) and pagan holidays, more power to them.

My issue is with these online petitions to "demand" an apology from Fox News for making fun of them.

    That's the one :D

The reason I was 'offended' was what was being said by four grown ups due to something a university was doing, and if you realised what the university was doing you'd realise how ridiculous they sounded.

But are you really offended though? Yeah, it was utterly ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as starting an online petition to demand an apology.

Who gives a fuck about what 'journalists' on Fox says? This is how they report; they're not going to apologize because they're not sorry. Why aren't they sorry? Because talking this way helps get them a shit ton of viewers and by extension a shit ton of money.

Start a Pagan News Network, then a Muslim News Network, Jewish News Network, Christian News Network, Buddhist News Network. Then start a Nitpicking News Network for those who are offended by what the talking heads say.

Can you be offended if something is offensive?. This was totally offensive.
I'm sure to varying degrees those four are all obnoxious creeps with regards to subjects they disapprove of, and I probably shouldn't take offence just because of this particular e.g.
To be fair, the woman in the middle and the chap on our right seemed to be just going along for the ride.
I dunno - you have to have strong feelings about something, don't you?
Shit like this winds me up and brings out strong feelings.
I do think they should apologise because they would have never have got away with this with any of the major beliefs.
Imagine if they were mocking Muslims for wearing funny clothes or praying five times a day.
Their reaction was totally disproportionate to the situation.
It should never have made it to air, imho.

I don't think so - I briefly noticed a place to add your name.
I can't tell because I used Facebook to sign it. Try not being signed into Facebook, and see what happens.

I watched it and I think it's a waste of time being upset about little things like this.

You might as well be running around with petitions for every mother fucker you meet......make every person who says something you don't like apologize. Meanwhile, the rest of us will be over here living life.

i have a hard time believing that this is anywhere near the most offensive thing that has been said on fox news. i don't see how anyone was surprised to see it. besides, i see more offensive things than that said all over the tv.

i wonder why dungeons and dragons players aren't circulating a petition that fox news apologize for comparing them to wiccans.

Here's a press release that my friend, who is also my former High Priestess, wrote in response.

"ATC Press Release Regarding Recent Media Hype
    February 18, 2013
    By edavis

Wicca has been recognized by the Federal Government, the US Military and the IRS since the 1950s.

The Aquarian Tabernacle Church (ATC) www.aquariantabernaclechurch.org is a formalized, international church which, in the US, is recognized as tax exempt. The ATC has affiliated churches and members–with government recognition–all over the US and in Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. We sponsor both a Wiccan Seminary for the formal education of professional clergy at www.WiccanSeminary.EDU and the SpiralScouts, Int’l youth program www.spiralscouts.org: the largest, all-inclusive, non-discriminatory scouting program in the English-speaking world.

There are approximately 4.1 million Wiccans and Pagans in the United States today. They are stockholders, doctors, lawyers, police officers, teachers, politicians, neighbors and many others who deserve the same civil rights as any other religion.

There are 8 major Wiccan Holy Days. Halloween is not one of them.

Belladonna Laveau Thompson, Archpriestess of the Aquarian Tabernacle Church

Pierre “Pete Pathfinder” Davis, Archpriest of the Aquarian Tabernacle Church"

We're just happy when somebody acknowledges we exist. We've always been shat on, so we don't tend to even notice it anymore.

I was raised by a pagan and never got to take the holidays off. I think the petition is a good idea just so the journalists of Fox news, think twice before making rude comments about other peoples belief systems. I am not wanting to take away their freedom of speech. I just want to make them think before they talk. Perhaps the petition can do that and perhaps not but at least they can see the amount of people who found what they said offensive. They are journalists and people take what they say as fact. They are as bad as tabloid journalists because they often feed people misinformation.

Online petition signing is the internet equivalent of frivolous law suits.
