Imprisonment as a punishment is just another form of violence. Another form of violence because it's physical. It's a violation of bodily integrity. We still need moral responsibility, rehabilitation still has to be involuntary sometimes and we have to work with the legal system we have in our individual country when our rights have been violated. But it's still always wrong.

I'm still trying to figure out why I supported our system of reward and punishment. I'm still trying to figure out why I supported drug laws. I know Portugal is doing away with the punitive approach to the drug problem. And they say Norway has a very nice prison system.

The vast majority of violent crimes are committed by young men who have significant brain damage and PTSD. The sad truth is, crime is not a mystery that only the priests comprehend. Similarly, there's been a rise in the number of fraud cases in the younger generation, writing bad checks mostly, and the judges are well aware the idiots have all the brains of chickens, and are watching too much TV. The only real problem with the judicial system, is that it makes way too much damn money, for people who claim the sun revolves around the earth.

When people act like that, you just ignore them. And when you do that you disempower them, and you spare yourself the heartache of lowering yourself to their mental state. And then you and they just move on. You with your life, and they often living the rest of their lives in a prison cell.
